Hailed by pirate in Solo to drop cargo....

So i was playing solo mode, jumping from system to system in my new Hauler looking for asteroid belts or planets with rings and i got interdicted by a NPC and was told to drop my cargo. Thats fine, except my cargo hull was empty... so i sat there with a dumb look on my face as the pirate blew up my ship, thinking all the while....didnt that npc even bother to scan my cargo? Seems kinda pointless....

AI is dumb as a pole, m8....just leg it.

Yep, the AI isn't exactly sharp. Just boost away and jump and you will be gone before it can say herp derp.

The fact you always seem to get 1 token pirate in every unexplored system is also annoying :p

sorry that you were griefed!

As hard as this game is i love it to death. Its exactly as i imagined it would be. No hand holding, space survival, a billion controls and MASSIVE space to explore. Im glad its hard as all hell. Games now-a-days need it. This is a pc game gents. All hail the PC master race!!!

Sidenote: Anyone seen No Mans Sky? At first i was excited, it looked interesting. But now after experiencing Elite Dangerous, it looks like a watered down console game that wants to be a PC game from 1998

You know, you are allowed to run ;)

It would be great if the npc were a little smarter, and actually did scan and demand cargo and actually react and let you go if you comply. Sounds like you just got a noob npc though.

That was not intended . When you don't have cargo NPC pirates always say something similar like this "Blah... Nothing interesting." than they move on.

I got interdicted by an AI pilot in a hauler, which was a dumb move as I was in a kitted out cobra. Interestingly he spooled up his FSD as soon as I opened my hard points. Unfortunately for him he was space dust seconds later.

Maybe that NPC pirate just didn't have a cargo scanner installed and was just hoping that you might have something on board? I know that I've had my (empty) cargo bay scanned and then been ignored by quite a few NPC pirates.

I had this with a random Adder, while flying a pimped out cobra. He was gone before he even finished deploying weapons :p

I mean...surely there needs to be some checks that stop NPC pirates from trying to take on ships that will just eat them in seconds.

NPC pirates have the same AI as PC pirates - Some scan you... some don't :D

Not every pirate has a scanner. Might be more interesting if FD let us do canned responses to NPCs, then they can decide if they want to believe us or not.

Seconds count so it actually makes sense to just make the demand and then scan. I've had that happen from an NPC. He demanded cargo, then scanned me, and then said something like "Empty huh, waste of time..."

They usually scan me, and I see messages like

"What do you have?"

"Bah, nothing, how do you guys make a living?"

NPC moves along. Proceeds to get blasted by me...
