fun boost in docking bay :)

Well i just had a little accident in the docking bay that I just had to post about.
seems i accidentally hit boost in the docking bay , being of quick wits i hit flight assist off flipped my ship around hit flight assist on and hit boost again.
bumped the wall just a touch 5% hull damage but that was it. :)

anyone else survived a boost in the docking bay?

As I was undocking, some friendly commander outside the station sent me a "hello" message. Well, I kinda feel bad accidentally doing this to a human player. I usually will line up with the letterbox and boost out. Poor chap was coming in the letterbox at the same time in his sidewinder. My cobra and uber shields absolutely destroyed his poor little sidey. Hope he had money for insurance.

Oh goodness. I never do such silly things. The beer however does some of the most incredibly stupid things I've ever witnessed. Thank god I only drink when I play.

That is quick thinking, well done!

I've survived a boost in the station by bouncing of a few buildings. I think you take less damage on glancing blows. Still lost most of my hull though.

LOL oh i forgot to mention I was in a ASP with no shields cause i am grinding cargo runs to afford all the expensive equipment for the ASP :)

Many Commanders have had that accident. Few have survived it.:D

That's WWAAAYYY more fun in an Eagle, when a Type 9 decides to make it's way through the letterbox.

Managed to squeeze by at boost speeds (A class thrusters to, so VERY fast), but my wing still clipped him, my shields took a hit, I spun around in ways I wish I could replicate in battle, but suffered only minor hull damage, so I picked myself up and did what any cat would have done had it run into a doberman and got away. Pretended nothing happened and went on my way.
Z...

I was about 250 meters from the toaster slot about to enter the station, and I wanted to try the new "thrusters only landing gear hover mode config thingie" so I was like, okay, which button did I bind landing gear to?

NOPE! hit boost...

I quickly pushed the nose forward and just barely managed to escape hitting the metal bread holder bits outside of the slot. I bet the other ships entering / leaving at the time were quite surprised at my unfortunate antics. :p

Nice quick thinking there! I'm definitely trying that next time I bork my landing with an accidental boost.

I've survived, but because I was already close to an obstacle and just put my ship into it while the boost burned down. The boost hadn't added enough speed to break shields by the time I made contact.

Then there were the other times when I smeared the inside with my ship and cargo...

Ive not thought of trying that method. I just put landing gear down as soon as I get inside the mail slot so I cant boost into the back wall..... going out on the other hand I hit the wall going 300 with a hold full of mission cargo.... insult to injury were the fines! Insurance should cover the cargo!

Briefly in one of the beta versions there was a grayed out option for cargo insurance. They may add that in the future.

I used to ALWAYS boost out the door in my eagle - it was easy enough to dodge out the way of anyone coming in - until the day I met a type 9 coming in... First time I had ever seen one.
I did manage to almost miss it, but I got janged up so badly I ended up rattling around the pylons just outside. To add insult, I then got a loitering warning whilst disentangling, and had to limp off to another station to pay for the repairs.

I STILL boost out of stations, but I do have a better look at what's coming first now.
