Black Ops Hit: Eliminate Gen. Morrison

I took this mission from the Federation in order to increase in rank. When I found Gen. Morrison he was in a dropship and unloaded on me. After getting hit a few times and using a KWS on him, I shot back... only to immediately receive a 200CR bounty on my head and wanted status with the very people who sent me to kill him.

The reputation system in this game is way over my head apparently.

Switch your 'report crimes against me' on, and he'll accrue a bounty for shooting you. He is then fair game.

That, and note that KWS bounty doesn't give you the right to shoot him if he shows clean in policed systems. Also make sure to look at him longer till he shows wanted when you bait him.

I got the mission Black Ops Hit: Eliminate Gen. North... same mission, I suppose. Can I take that guy in a fairly basic Viper with burst lasers, if he's in a Federal Dropship?

Maybe. He's pretty tough for a drop ship, and is fairly armored. So depends on your skill I guess.

just completed the same mission. thought i could complete teh mission at any station but you have to go to same station you got the mission from. Now a Petty Officer

Lol I just finished this after searching out what felt like hundreds of USSs. And she was flying an Imperial Clipper! Hey, isn't she meant to be an enemy of the Empire? Maybe she stole the ship off someone else...

Had the same Gen. North take down. You can take her down in a fairly enhanced Viper. On my case she was on a Cruiser with a nasty punch on the turrets and nose full Pulses.

Had to fight her twice for she managed to FSD out of the first encounter.

I got him to 28% in an Adder, albeit probably a more upgraded one[1], so you have a good chance. But it took a while.
I had to turn and run when a load of his buddies turned up - that might just because I fired first and became Wanted, or it might be that he summons them - there's certainly some radio chatter where he calls for assistance.

[1] 2x Class 1 fixed beams, 1x class 2 gimballed multicannon, souped up power dist and thrusters.

In my encounter, he started dropping mines and then promptly hit them by himself. Caused his hull to go to 33% without me firing a shot. It was easy to finish him off after that. :D

Sounds like he is not only a traitor, but a traitor with a high rank in the empire.

If we're all in the same Galaxy (albeit different instances at times) why would several people be getting the same mission ?
Or, to put it in a better way; kill order goes out for General North, plenty of bounty hunters take up the offer which is fine but only one can really bag the money with an assassination. Can't kill the same mark over and over surely.

Why not? You can be killed over and over, after all. Consistency - it's good not only for puddings.

Had the same mission a few days ago. My target was also clean and I got a 200cr bounty when I attacked. But given that it was a Black Ops mission maybe it was meant to be that way. Black Ops stuff is usually denied by the government. Hence, your wanted status when you attacked.

I think the name pool for npc ships are quite small, I'm also killing same dudes over and over again everyday at the nav beacons.

Just wait until general opens fire and he becomes wanted and shoot him. You will get 100 cr for it and accomplished mission.

Agreed. This is the best method. No need to turn off "Report crimes against me", if you are lucky you might get some police help to take him down.

I haven't found any of these guys to be elite and they fly dropships or imperial clippers, and are easier to take down than pirate lords (who are elite and fly Anacondas).
