Oculus DK2 Grey Flashes

Since two days ago, my dk2 has regular grey flashes on screen while playing Elite (like when you lose positional tracking). Is it my fault (pc or rift) or a software-side bug?

Make sure that you dont have too many bright lights reflecting off the rift.. if it cannot see the infrared dots on the rift it gets confused and looses positional tracking, as well as the camera is not too far above you. The camera works best at or below eye height

I was running smooth as silk for version 1.00.
Now I have the same issues as you.
.
Feels like tracking camera 'flicker'. It doesn't crash, but it definitely struggles to keep up.
.
Must me software thing, because nothing has changed in my hardware from 2 days ago.

I finally found a solution (I hope...).

Unplugged and replugged the camera USB cable (not from the pc but from the camera itself) while playing.

Try it and let me know.

Ive seen flashes as well but i wonder if it the same we saw and then i don't think the flashing i saw had anything to do with the head-tracking.
the flashing i saw was mote of a lighting problem because it only happened when my lakon type 6 was at a sertain angle from a large light source. Passing light straight though the walls.
but you're probably talking about some other kind of flashing.

I have similar problems. There is actually a longer thread about it. I reduced it but didn't get rid of it by:
setting the orserver process to "realtime"
stopping all background applications like antivirus, skype etc.
having the rift headset on an usb3 port (the camera is not working on usb3 for me)

I have an AMD 8350 with a gtx 970. As I see it there are two possible causes for tracking interuption: other processes interfering (including ED), and possibly dropouts of the ir leds in the headset due to low usb power (?). I had a problem with my x55 on an usb 2 sending ghost input. It may be the board for the amd cpu has a problem.

It's a known issue. I've raised tickets back in beta through gamma until now, originally it was really bad. This is very much improved but still not perfect.

The reason I suspect it is not a hardware issue is that I have had experiences in Elite that were completely smooth, and totally free of this issue.
Release 1.00 was the best release for me yet. I marveled at how smooth it ran... then 1.01 struck, then 1.02 was even worse, now 1.03 is a little better.
One of the Gammas was bad too, but I forget which one.
.
I have faith that FDev will eventually stabilize the issue, but in the mean time its a good idea to ticket it and keep reminding them.

I'm getting these flashes. Any solution?
Re-plugging in the USB devices may clear this. I had it better by replugging the Sensor.
I think PC needs power off, unplugged from socket, hold power button 30secs, connect only mouse/keyb for USBs only, power on then plug them all back in, thus clearing it's cache.

I've been getting these too. I assumed it was because my DK2 took a tumble off my desk and was broken but since I saw the previous thread about blackouts I was wondering if maybe it was the game. I've tried playing at night to make sure it's not sunlight interfering and it still does it then.
