The worst part is... If you say anything to knock this blessed system which has put so many 'professionals' on the market, you get a warning from a moderator, bad rep from people who feel insulted, letters threatening the life of your cat, toilet paper on your car and strange substances in the pizza you had someone deliver.

1. Docking is not hard at all. It takes a bit of practice to get good at flying in ED because you have so many directions the ship can fly in (thrusters). You have, simplified explanation, sideways strafe, up/down, forward/backwards, sideways turn, tilting back and forth, tilting left/right. So if this is a first for someone then you just have to know it takes practice to get good. And ED feels awesome to fly when you know how. Definately shouldnt be dumbed down and made "easier" just cause some dont have the will or passion to get into it enough. It would hurt the game a lot to simplify it. There are always docking comp modules.
|
2. Chat system wide would be constantly abused and spammed by those who think its too hard to dock and too slow to SC. When they are bored, and they get bored fast, they will spam the comms with and we will have to sit and block these people (ehum, censor didnt let me name them properly) on a daily basis. It would also break the feeling of being in a vast universe. Maybe we could have longer range, but have planets and other large mass scramble the incoming text which would restrict it and make it feel more "realistic" while at the same time get a little longer range so others are happy too.
|
3. SC does not take too long and you are not slowed down for some stupid reason. When passing planets you are attracted to its gravity and you will slow down. Fly AROUND planets and you will not be slowed down. I am never slowed down when SC'ing from knowing this little bit of fact. And those rare times where you have to SC far for a couple of minutes, well thats space for you. If everything was "insta-get there" then it wouldnt feel like space. However, yes im also for inter-system jumping as long as there are binary stars there. And i think ED said they are looking into this so that should make people happy.

No the game should not be made easier in my view. As I have said before "It is climbing the mountain that makes getting to the top so sweet".
Having said that there are game mechanic/tool improvements most definitely needed, but we should not confuse comments on this with the need to make a game easier!
yea like ships in deepspace not using supercruise, i just wonder WHY?!!?!? and ships with escorts being attacked, i just wonder if slaving drives is not possible how do they end up that way??? There is no way to do group interdictions then either. really immersion breaking. Should there also not be a LOT more Lakons about taking care of the background trading or massive trade and mining ships?I don't necessarily want it easier, but I would like it if things made more sense. At the moment I am finding a lot of the content to be hastily thought out and silly.
There is nothing difficult or skillful about sitting through hundreds of hours of super cruise. All you need is unemployment, a non-existent social life and a general lack of self-worth.
Edit: I forgot to quote the post I was referencing by William Blanchard: "I started out on the 16th. Today i'm at 300M in funds. I worked my butt off finding trade routes for myself. I've lost ships, outran ships, upgraded, downgraded..the game doesnt need to be dumbed down or made easier. I started out without an instruction book, and 1000 in cash. If you relax and focus, you can get things done. Use the forums, youtube, etc. All the help you need is there. I'm very happy it was hard at first, it makes it more satisfying to do it."
This sounds exactly like my experience, except I'm not rich. I started on the 16th as well, watched some streams before hand, but I've yet to lose a ship. I'm just flying around figuring out how everything works and after a few days it's all falling into place. I love it so far and I'm looking forward to where the game goes in the future. I think a lot of people are missing the point of the game, namely that it's a sim first and foremost and that things take time. It's not a super fast twitch shooter and you're not going to be able to hit triple elite status in a few days of hardcore play. Sorry folks, that's just the way the game works. I think a lot of people also have this idea that they, and they alone, can influence a faction or system enough to cause massive change and I don't think FD designed the game to work like that. There needs to be quite a few people in one place fighting for their causes to inflict significant change.
I'm flying around exploring and making small trades here and there, and to me this feels right. Space is huge. Space is empty. I'm an astronomy nerd too, so flying around and seeing the various stars up close or the neat vistas you can create when you position yourself around a planet is awe inspiring. I thought it might get old and samey but I still get excited when the SC countdown begins and I get puked out into a new system. Even if the system is just another red dwarf. Most of the stars out there are red dwarfs, so it makes finding the giant or even a yellow star that much more exciting.
something happened between gamma 1 and gamma two where interdictions went from a regular guantlet, to practically non existent.
it got very boring, very quickly.
almost every jump consists of one or more interdictions.
How are you supposed to make money when you are taking 30k damage from two goddamned jumps?
I'm f'ing done. Four more jumps and 6 more interdictions then destroyed again. Today has been ridiculous
FDev really needs to find another solution to these npc interdictions. They're simply annoying
The Interdictions now are nonstop please fix this. All the fun is gone in trading by these nonstop pests.
The level and frequency of interdiction is crazy ! every single time I take off I am caught in an interdiction. Within a minute before I am even pulled out they are hitting me and my shields are offline. Please lower this. This is a game that is supposed to be enjoyable, this wont be for long.
Some aspects of the game are poorly implemented at this time. It's not so much that the game should be made easier, but that the game should be made better.
Don't settle for what you have now, give the devs a little pressure to improve things. You'll end up with a better game.
Ok, then, they aren't dumb, they're just lazy.
If the shoe fits... Basic psychology, anyone offended by a rhetoric mention of a lack of intelligence is probably wondering whether or not he's smart.
I for one am not going to turn politically correct because of the stupid people in the world. Just saying.
Get offended and try to downplay my understanding, knowledge or opinion and the way I express it... do what you must to feel better about yourself, I'll lose no sleep over it.
I care not what your motivation is, since it's obvious. You think you have the right to tell people how to express themselves. If you don't get your way you become offended.
You get outraged that I use a certain wording then try to disqualify my understanding and motivation inferring that your motivation and understanding has more validity and importance.
Well boo-hoo, be offended see if I care.
What I see is a hoard of gamers whom are used to the pointless console games on the market, trying to turn Elite Dangerous into yet another mindless game. I don't need a doctorate In psychology to understand human behavior and if I do use a 5th grade vocabulary it's for some of the nitwits that come here to understand me better.

The real question for me is: Have people gotten dumber?
