Arghhhh Insufficient Fuel, what now?

So I'm stuck in a system with one star and no planets and not enough fuel to go anywhere else, what do I do now? :eek:

Self destruct and next time fit a fuel scoop or refuel more often.

Just travelled several star systems to pick up some slaves from an anarchy system, so don't want to sacrifice my cargo, I am heading in super cruise to the nearest system, got some pringles in the trunk, will wait it out!

Doesn't it take like... 3 days?
If your fuel lasts even that far.

You will completely run out of fuel before you can supercruise to another system.

The penalty for not managing your fuel consumption is self-destruct. That's all you can do.

You didn't think to refuel when you picked them up?

Such a cruel universe, how much is scoop - damn slaves cost me 20k. I'm at 600c and it says 3 days, figured that was in dog years or something.

I've got an idea, if I jettison my cargo can I some back for it?

Scoops are inexpensive, better ones cost more and scoop faster, but even the cheapest one will get the job done. 3 days is not in dog year, it's real time.

Well, if you halve it over and over:

1200c = 1.5 days
2400c = .75 days
4800c = .375 days
9600c = .1875 days (4.5 hours)
19200c = 2.25 hours

So, assuming you have the fuel to reach 19,200c you could be there tonight. :D

You actually can't supercruise to another system, unfortunately. Somebody actually tried, and even though they technically got there, nothing was there. You to jump to actually make the session / instance change to the next system.

You cannot supercruise to other systems; well you can, but the location will be empty. People tried it before fuel was implemented (and we thus had infinite fuel), the game does not load the other system without a jump.

One thing you learn when living and driving in Australia, there are vast distances between some places, so the general rule is don't plan a leg where you make it with less than 1/3 or maybe 1/4 a tank of fuel left. I use that same principle in ED (when flying a ship with no fuel scoop fitted).
At least in RL you can call a car club (but that means a long with when you are 200/300Km from the nearest town. The wait is longer in ED as at the speed of light it could be several years before your radio signal reaches them :)
