So, er, stupid question: how do you take screenshots?

I can't quite recall what was done in previous versions and if it's the same as now, but I can't seem to take a screenshot.
Hitting the f11/f12 keys produces no noticeable feedback about a screenshot being taken, and hitting printscrn and then pasting into image editing software just shows the desktop, not the game screen.
I know I'm missing something here, so... halp plz?

Is that key sequence configurable? If so, I must have erased mine because that sequence doesn't work for me... Loads the galaxy map (as does just G on its own).
