Newcomer / Intro i prommised no monthly fee... true?

Correct, no monthly fee- which is good because it means you only get charged once when you buy the game rather than 12 times a year

No monthly fee, true, but do not be surprised when Frontier adds a major feature update as a paid expansion. They need some income to maintain the studio and the game, and given the high quality of product they have delivered so far, I will not hesitate for a moment to purchase those expansions. Eagerly awaiting the Planetary Landing expansion, to restore the features of 1995's Elite II: Frontier.

FD have been totally open since Kickstarter that major expansion content will have to be purchased. This does not mean they won't continue to add content to the core game, but walking around in stations and ships and landing on planets will be paid expansions.

Otherwise all the people who paid extra in advance for all paid future content will get a bit angry.

Same as the all the previous Elite games... if you buy it, you own it. No fees.

You only own it to the extent that we're reliant on FD's servers. No offline version of course.

They will presumably set aside a certain amount of money from our 39.99s but they'll need to find away of making money from the players eventually.

I played EVE many moons ago and also payed a fee each month to play because they also kept their servers up to date and such. Stopped playing because i found it rather boring. Not the case with Elite, if they introduced a monthly fee then i would pay. Elite will grow into much more than just flying about in space, correct me if im wrong but didn't they mention they hoped one day we could land on planets? and walk around ports, stations? now this is something i would pay for :)

As long as the paint jobs and such bring in the upkeep money, we're good. Expansions will be dropping once every year or two, for bigger cash inflows.

No, not at the moment, but you get what you pay for ultimately and although some have already payed up front for future expansions I wouldn't be suprised to see some form of regular payment happening.

Might actually become properly multiplayer then ;)

There is no basis to that statement. That's just blatent scaremongering.

Frontier have repeatedly said over and over icluding in a video with David stating there won't be a monthly charge.

I buy a skin or something's most months to do my bit. If half of us did that Frontier will have more than enough to continue making an epic game over many years to come.

FYI Frontier have also stated there will be pay to win either.

There is zero basis for you to assume this.

They've already commited to making it playable offline when the close the servers down. You can't just change the terms of sale after the event.

They are not to be trusted.
