What a stinker!

What a real stinker of a night I've had.

I've gone from having over 220,000 credits to under 7,000 credits after a series of poor trades, bad choices, bad purchases and lost ships due to asteroids and the action of others.

I guess I'm two steps away from the poor house right now, you can't believe I had over a million credits 4-5 days ago. Guess I'm having a run of bad luck.

Pointless thread perhaps, just wanted to moan at someone as the wife's eyes glaze over when I mention Elite :D

Commiserations. Had one like that a couple of nights ago...The accidental boost button of death with a full hold whilst docking set me back from and to about the same amounts of creds.

Elite: Unforgiving...I'm about back where I was though, there's always that.

Lets start a "It happened to me thread".

I had 300k of bounties to cash in and was just chasing another on full boost down when it decided to run cold, I lost it off my sensors. Didn't see it again until it was too late, it'd come to a complete stop - hit it at over 400 m/s. Why wife actually came to check on me because of the loud exasperated exclamation of frustration and hand waving.

That one Cobra cost me close to 500k.

I had a Lakon 6 filled with platinum and gold two nights ago... It had been a long night of mining and as I entered the letterbox I accidentally hit boost. Can you imagine the horror of knowing as I rapidly ran out of space that easily well over two million CR is about to dispear in a flash of fire and ship parts.

it was a pointless but heroic gesture but I did try to turn the ship (Lakons don't turn well) as it headed for the rear end of a star port but of course it was futile.

I was very upset but now I have made up a lot of the difference I can laugh about it but at the time I was being very creative with the sexual expletives and I'm sure my neighbours heard me lol

Look at the silver lining: if ED was totally safe all the time and it became yet another 'safe' game of Watching Numbers Going Up, it'd be pretty dull, wouldn't it?

(inb4 someone responds with a comment about the game already being dull, whatever, just stay on topic)

I totally agree, yes it would. I'd just like to make it clear I'm not complaining one bit about the game.

Agreed, we keep coming back - even after plowing into an astroid chasing a 200 credit bounty on a Novice Sidewinder. (I fly a bit slower arround giant space rocks now)

The trill seekers can alway pick a fight with a wanted Elite NPC Anaconda at an extraction site while already fighting two Pirate cobra's off, that didn't end well for me either.

Nah I didn't think you were, sorry if it seems like I implied that.

I've definitely had a few stupid deaths myself recently...both times wiped several hundred thousand credits worth of bounties from my transactions. I was not a happy camper, but no use crying over spilled milk and all that.

I had a similar experience with a lakon 6 full of 104 tonnes of imperial slaves. Got interdicted by a competent eagle, not a huge problem in a lakon 6 so I decided to engage. After some serious fat freighter dogfighting it decided to run, I followed, I got momentarily distracted by a phone call, I didn't see it turn, and I slammed into it full boost.
Cost me about 1.2 million. Was a seriously bad night...

Still.. I do enjoy the risk and the adrenaline.. And I suppose I can take some consolation that the 104 tonnes of the empires finest indentured servants huddled like sardines in my hold had a far worse evening than I did!

Asteroids are hunting bounties now!? That must have been an Anarchy system then? ;)

Opposite for me today, fell towards 12k, two deaths off a begin from scratch. Was pretty discouraged, then *bam* 2 big bounties and finished on 100k.

When I first traded up to my Asp I sunk all my money into buying it - but had some spare for insurance. Unfortunately as I left the station I somehow hit the side of the letter box (still no idea how even today) and took my brand new Asp down to 11%. After re-entering the station and paying for repairs I was without insurance for my first trading haul in my new Asp. Took it really slowly and carefully into the next station and completely forget to ask for docking clearance....
