Just did a ton of combat...for nothing?

I just hung around the Nav Beacon killing every Wanted ship that appeared. Not on a mission or anything, just killing random bad guys. Each kill, blue text appeared saying x credit bounty awarded etc. So how do I get the cash? My balance did not increase at the point of kill, one of them was 40k, so I'd notice that since I have less than 100k. I flew to the nearest station, went to Contacts and there's nothing to cash in. What's going on? Is there a screen to see bounties I can cash in, and how to do it? Or did I just waste my time?

Check your transactions. Left tab.
You'll need to go to the security office in a place with the same jurisdiction as your bounties.

Check your transaction tab and it will tell you which faction you need to report to to get the bounties from. I bet you are in the wrong one right now ;)

You also need to make sure that your in the right kind of station. Your transaction tab will tell you who the bounty was placed by, make sure the station you're in is run by those people.

I have 26k bounty for a faction who do NOT control the station I'm at. The amount is not familiar though. All the bounties I killed were small except the 40k one and there is no sign of that. I think I died shortly after the 40k kill, does that wipe them?

I didn't think it still wiped bounties at death. I guess they changed the mechanics again, you were able to keep them after death during Gamma.

Just saw above that I need to not get killed. THat is pretty bad design since you are out trying to get into trouble. Not only do I need to rush back if I score a large bounty, just in case, but even if I survive I then need to tour round a ton of stations to hand them all in??? And I thought trading was un-rewarding!! Grrrr.

No, it's good design.
If it wasn't there, you could just hunt people in the free sidey until you get blown up, collect cash and return to the field.
It puts the risk there, to continue for more or take a flight home and secure cash in smaller bites.

You keep bounties until you cash them out. I find it funny that you can go to one station in a system and have bounties, but go to a different one in the dame system and they do not give you the bounty

If your town promised to give you 1000 dollar/euro/whatever prize for thing X, of course the town next to yours wouldn't pay it.
The bounties aren't put there by all factions in the system in hivemind, but the certain factions themselves have put them and only they pay them.

You are trying to be Boba Fett and you expect to be still receive your bounties after losing your ship, cmon now!

I think your frustration is more to do with not knowing the mechanics. The die = wipe is there to add some risk to the reward of bounty hunting. Lorewise it is explained as you need your ship computers data as evidence for the kills or sommat, but it is basically risk reward.

The station thing isn't actually that complicated. If you bounty hunt in anarchy systems it is more complicated because you get bounties from all over the place, if you bounty hunt in an empire system for instance and only kill wanted targets, you get empire bounties. You can look up which faction owns a station in the system map, even most empire systems have some independent stations. It is just a matter of getting used to it, not of running around to a ton of stations :)

This is a very important point. For example, if you are in a Federation-owned system, the bounties will be Federation bounties. The system can have independently owned stations, however, at which you cannot cash in your bounty claims.

Ofcourse he would, he had gotten the job done hadn't he. This isn't a "just makes sense" thing it is a game balance thing :p I'm pretty sure that of boba killed luke and lost his shipdoing it, he'd still get the bounty yeah.

Well... if we're talking about things making sense, you die when your ship explodes.
You just happen to respawn because the game lets you, there is no story behind that.

Doubt they'd pay bounties to dead corpses.

There is also the possibility you've hit the same bug as myself and several others, bounty notices are being flashed up in blue but not being awarded in transactions.

I thought it was an isolated one off at 1st with a big payout 107K reward that didn't materialise but since then it's became pointless even trying to bounty hunt for me as the earned reward isn't being credited to my transaction panel and isn't available to collect from in stations.

These days, the TRANSACTIONS tab lists tallies of bounties, not the individual bounties themselves. In the Olden Days, every single bounty was listed individually, which simply wasn't scalable. :)

You've accumulated 26,000CR of bounty vouchers for that faction (well done). You need to fly to the relevant jurisdiction, and cash in.
