Is the map lying?

I have been all over my "local" neighborhood trying to find some Combat Stabilizers for the Empire rank up mission.
I was told that those would be sold at Hightec stations that don' outlaw them. That would be Anarchist and Dictatorships.
So I've looked and looked for a Hightec station / outpost with Anarchy or dictatorship as their government type.
I found one, system map told me the station exported Combat Stabilizers and that the station was a dictatorship. Check!
So I fly the 60LY to get there and super cruise a couple of minutes. When I finally touch down and all exited open up the commodities I suddenly feel confused as there were no combat stabilizers being sold.
Then I see it. At the top of the commodities market it tells me the station is a Hightec PATRONAGE, and somehow not a dictatorship.
I thought it might have been caused by the station changing government while I flew so I checked the map again. But still the map is telling me the station is a patronage. Hmm..
Weird glitch I think. So I spend another 30 mins looking for a new station that would sell me Combat Stabilizers. I finally find one. Fly another 60LY and make touchdown. But once again the station has mysteriously changed government while I wasn't looking, and still the map is spewing lies all over me.

So, is the map lying to me? Is there some system here that I haven't noticed? What the Fudge?

Not sure on the map lying - havent had that issue knowingly!
But there are other posters on the issue of comb stab (theres another post just after yours in the forum list!)
If you do a search for combat stabilisers in the forum you will find a list of systems where you can get them - for me Momus Reach did the trick.

I know. But I'm somewhere completely else. So I don't fancy making 40 jumps to get to those stations.
And it doesn't change the fact that the map tool apparently doesn't provide accurate information. I thought that it was a selling point for them, that you had to use the map to figure out where to go if you wanted to import / export stuff? How can we do that if we can't trust the map? It get's real troublesome if we have to go to every relevant system to check out all the "facts" that the map should already be providing.

I need to check but I believe the map often lies about what a station is importing and exporting. In fact I have a nice little milk run going at the moment, shipping Silver one way and Bertrandite the other, plus the occasional 100k+ mission. The system exporting metals is stated as importing them on the map IIRC.

It sure lies alot to me... Needed some non-lethal weapons to gain rep. Commodities showed that it imported it from some system, checked the galaxy map, also showed corresponding lines. The system that ought to be providing it did NOT have the products.. So yeah, they are lying to us. :)

Is it possible there were multiple stations in that system and you visited the wrong one? Single systems can have a bunch of stations with completely different stats (type, owner, government) within them.

The map definitely isn't telling current/real situation. Never trusted the map anyway - just poke my nose to places, see what they sell, make a note of interesting stuff (maybe grab along too) and check another place, and a few more - making the trade routes "manually" clear for myself.

If there is an export line on the Galaxy Trade map showing from a system for the commodity you want, it should definitely be there. Make sure you check every station in the exporting system. I've been looking for a commodity, followed the export lines back only to find zero for sale, until you check ALL the stations and then you find it.

But yes trading seems completely broken at the moment.

Yes. The Galaxy Map and the market a lot of times gives you false informations. For example in the importer system is reported the exporter one ...useless to say that after a quick look to the system map you will immediatly notice that the specific good you are looking for is illegal in the later one. It happened to me when I was struggling to gain the 1st promotion into the Empire side.

Not exactly the same issue, but it is an issue finding combat stablerisers and personal weapons. I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to track these down. I happened upon a station that had demand for both, so I checked out the info,to see where they imported from. Flew to the two systems mention, visited every station, even one that was 250k las away ( 10 - 15 minute travel time). Not only did none of the stations have any supplies, they didn't even sell the commodities, they weren't in the list.

I eventually check 8 different systems all named as 'exporters' of these commodities, none supplied and 5 didn't even have them in the market! One of these systems even showed it to be trading the commodities via the trade map, yet they didn't show in the markets of the stations.

Parts of this game are so broken and thoroughly fed up of the broken market and market data.

For reference the Systems I check were initially Skadjalini and Erivia, then Iah Lanitei, Amphisatsu, Gitxsan, KunGun, though i'm sure I've forgotten one or two. As I said I checked every station in the systems.

Strangely having a look at BPC I see some of these places reportedly selling the commodities I need, e.g Skadjalini. Might go back and check if they really are there or not.
