I Agree with this, elite should be dangerous. And also the Devs shouldn't change things just to please the new crowd.

I've put in quite a lot of money into this game, and really only for this game. Being an 84er and paying into premium beta, skins, Rift, gtx970 and a new ECU, MB, memory. I've easily spent £1000+ and I know a lot of others that have paid that kind of money into this game just because of the promise of a rebuild of the classic Elite.

All the input through the beta stages seems to be worthless if they start to change the game to accommodate the £35-£40 new comers.

What a silly poll. Quality of life changes (like the last shot kill rule) should of course be made. These things do not affect how "dangerous" elite is, they only affect how frustrating or enjoyable it is. Frankly it should of happened in beta.

(Edit) I love how its newcomer or 84er... Because there's nothing in between right. What if you had never played an elite game before but you kickstarted? Or if you played the original elite but didn't buy in till launch? Or like me played the original elite a few years later and then really fell in love with FE2 and FFE, didn't kick start but did buy into beta?

Ridiculous poll, of course they should satisfy there new player base. But the assumption that if you were not part of the 84 crowd then you are in some way worthless and need/want your hand holding is offensive and really gets my back up.

You could have asked a more generalized question like do you find Elite: Dangerous too easy in it's current form, if so please explain and actually had a decent productive, debate but instead you turn it into a 84rs rule thread, him verses her...

Joker... I won't vote because the options are worthless, even more worthless than the current Elite AI

Although i agree with the difficulty argument, I wonder if FD are thinking about "developer difficulty" which DB mentioned in a YT video i can't find right now. As most of us "too easy" bunch are players from beta and earlier, are we like grizzled old soldiers berating the new conscripts for being too soft, forgetting the terror we had when we were in their shoes? Now I often dock at full speed through the slot (i might not have correct the paper work for everything in my cargo hold - ahem), but i remember the sweaty palms and fear as i inched through the docking slot praying i wouldn't meet some one coming the other way.

Where's the actually intelligent answer "Early game can and should be easy. Endgame can and should be hard. This is best for the game"?

YOU guys are ruining the game by trying to return to the stone age.

The aspect of te game are good as they are i am also an 84 elite player and just changing the game for people who bought the game and find it to difficult .

besides Frontier are developing updates and new features for the future .

This is just V1.0.0.3

Heh that's a loaded poll!

It entirely depends on the change being asked for, it's nothing to do with how long the requesting person has been playing.

Although I suppose there is a greater likelyhood that a new player won't see the "big picture" as it were but all the same it still comes back to what's being asked for.

In general I thought your post here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=83136 had some good points that I agree with.
The galaxy should contain systems that range from totally safe to completely suicidal. At the moment they range from totally safe to almost totally safe.

This poll, however does not seem to be worded in a way that is representative of any view I have. I think that any changes to the game should not "just" be made for any reason, but rather take into account all pertinent factors.
On the whole I think FD are keeping to the spirit of '84 - it is just that somewhere along the way they seem to have made the galaxy rather homogenous. I really hope this changes. I am optimistic.

This is a pretty disgusting attitude, really.

Biased poll options. I'm a new player, I think they should make a modern and vastly expanded game rather than a game from the 1980's but equally it should be a hard and challenging game. You might as well had made a poll saying "vote here if players from 1984 are the best eva and Vote here if you're a pathetic newcomer who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Dear Mr Braben... The poll

When can we expect "Dear Mr Braben... The Movie"? ;)

Anyway, this has generated quite an interesting discussion. Although I'm enjoying the experience of ED, my view is that the 'nerfs', while not exactly damaging, are not quite in the spirit of Elite. Just my opinion, of course.

I have been trading Slaves in Anarchy systems most of the weekend. There is no sense of danger at all. I'm laughing as I jump from system to system scooping up my dirty profits. Any NPC's I do encounter are stupid.

The game is being dumbed down. I think Mr Braben needs to remind himself why he called it Elite Dangerous.

I do think simplifying/dumbing down the game is a very bad idea, why?

Elite fans will still want to play this in 1-3-5+ Years, a lot (not all) of today's generation will play it for 2-3 weeks or a month at the most and move onto something else.

Do Frontier really want to alienate their main fanbase? It's not a good idea.

That said.. I do think there should be better tutorials and a manual for the newcomers.

Premium Beta backer here, I've also spent around £1000 purely on upgrades to my PC just for this game alone.

I've always been aware that after the initial KS goals of getting the game out have been met that anything Frontier do going forward will only be for the good of the game as well as their shareholders and investors.

If the good of the game means bringing in new players, then they will make those changes.

But at the end of the day the shareholders and investors exceptions must also be met for funding to continue making those changes.

I'm being pragmatic, with a little optimistic blind faith.

Others are just being blind.

There is no end game. It is what it is, hence why its hard

Yep, this. People need to actually get a grasp of the game.

I've been playing almost every day since 31st May when the PB came out and some stuff is *still* confusing as hell.

That isn't fun gameplay, it's just bad user experience design.
