About 80% of all my death in E: D happened because of stupid NPC (or me) try to ram me... and for me this is a real fun killer when you die because of such a stupid thing.
Well that is just my opinion what is yours?

Learn to fly (my opinion :) )

It's pretty low now after they reduced it a lot during the betas, I mean you can bump the smaller ships few times at close to max speed and barely lose your shields.

well I can fly... and no it's not really low I just died in a battle (Viper(me) vs. Imperial Clipper) and I flew very slow (under 100 m/s)
Edit: My shields were almost completely full

Died cause of that only once, when another player and I rammed into eachother during fight and had no shields.
So, either be careful, or get shields.

I voted that I liked the way it is currently. I've only been damaged by this once, and in fact blew up. Don't boost into a Python kids.

if you crash into an astroid say , for me you should die in one single crash. after all thats what would happen in real life and , sadly I cant go to space and fly a spaceship around so I would like to keep as much realism in eliteD as possible.

I met a viper in a belt once. The Vip tried to scan me, missed me and boosted to ram me 3 or 4 times. Myself was flying an Eagle and thank god i had grade A shields to cover that stupid ramming :)

Crashing into asteroids is very dangerous compared to crashing into ships atm ... I was bumping into a type-9 at full speed and after three hits lost maybe half of my shields, ran into asteroid at maybe 2/3rds speed and escaped with 7% hull even though it was a glancing hit.

Died twice to ramming damage the other night. Both were pretty much head on collisions against larger ships. It's fine.

While speed docking recently I met another Cobra in the slot, rolled hard and we only clipped each other sending me careering off and clipping the inside edge of the slot. I survived. Once again, it's fine.

Hitting the bigger ships causes slightly more damage but I've intentionally hit a lot of clippers with a viper to keep their guns off me and bumping them does very little damage especially if you have some pips in the shields.

The imperial Courier has a hull mass of about 400 T. The Viper 60 T. Your speed was 100 m/s. Maybe his was as fast or faster. Thats about 200 m/s combined. If your shields were almost full, and as you were in a fight, I guess you had all pips in weapons and none in systems, making the shields weaker.

No, I think collisons should be pretty rough. There were times in early beta when Federal fighters went on kamikaze runs and instakilled you after 2 minutes in a conflict zone. They reduced collision damage after that, and also AI survival instinct, I guess.

I think it's way too low. You can hit the station as many times and unless you go ridiculously fast nothing will happen. Someone made a video to prove it, and I just tested it myself the other night. When landing I no longer try to be careful, it's not important, which makes me sad.

I think its just about right. A couple of times thought **** going to lose my ship and cargo only to bounce off with no shields.

If your hitting ships or getting rammed alot I suggest looking around and using radar more.

Less crash deaths since being unable to boost with landing gear deployed.

Missing from each of these recollections is how many pips into SYS.
They've made it far more forgiving than some feel is needed and this thread apparently was created to make it even more unrealistic or more invincible.

They already nerfed damage. It needs to go the other way. I can ram someone in combat knowing it won't really hurt me and that is not good.

Crash damage should be higher... Heck I bellyflop on landing pads now, just because I can get away with it unscathed. Damage used to be higher... and people used to have to be more careful.
Point of the matter... avoid collisions... simple premise if you think about it.
