Server updated, no stock in the whole system has plumetted!

Before the server update today, i could make 6-10k a run, now after the update, and using slopeys trade tool, almost every item i was shipping has either stopped producing and now had med demand, or the value has reduced big time. the most i can earn now is 500- 1500

It has ruined my trade here, unless its some ass in a big fat hauler ruining it?

I think I found your problem :)

im checkign the system trade ingame and using the tool as a reference, the tool is way out with the data that was correct before the update, since then it has gone down.

Example one station sold Gold, now it does not, the same for other stocks

I'm sure the fanboy's and FDEV will be here shortly, praising the trade system as "working as intended" or "you're doing it wrong" or "it's not that hard".

It's broken, and even when they say it's "fixed", it'll still be broken, because grinding for hundreds of hours is perfectly ok, with that audience.

Michael said, just this morning, that the profit margins won't be going back to their beta/gamma levels. That's the only time they were even slightly close to reasonable, IMHO, so until there's an open customer revolt, get used to the pain, dreadlord. :(

I was living with it up until todays update making 6-10k a run, now i barley make 1k..... never raged quit before lol, but the thought of having to trawl loads of systems again does my head in.

Well if you are using Slopey's tool (which I rate, but don't use) are you doing so offline using only your own data? If not then you will have a lot of stale information in there since the server change. I have seen ALOT of impact from the server update, but I'm still finding some routes with profits, albeit fairly modest.

Any change like this will take a couple of days to 'mature', so let things settle, but also as pointed out I don't think we are going to see the large margin trading of beta. I personally think it is ok like that if you combine trading with missions in a sensible fashion.

Surely the idea is the market is dynamic enough that if you continually trade in one area it will plummet? I'd say if your able to repeatedly run the same trades making solid credits without the need for variety, that something is wrong.

I used it as a reference, told it to update and manually checked the data for the trades I used, I then updated the tool whenever I docked.

Example before update:

Gold was selling from a station, Tantalum was selling

After update

Gold and Tant are both med demand and no longer selling

During beta it was pretty regular to see 1200 cr per ton per stop both ways in a single jump closed L9 route. It sounds like that was higher than we're supposed to see in live. I have only kind of checked, but 800 cr per ton in a similar setup seems to be the goal now.

Looks like something has gone to pot. I'm seeing stations where all demand for food is now being met and the demand is closer to 0 that I've ever seen before. Net result, tiny profits. I've also seen some dual economy systems completely flip half a dozen or more commodities from buy to sell.
.
On the other hand I've also seen some ridiculously high demand resulting in some great bargains.
.
Seems further out of whack than before to me, but I will reserve judgement until the changes have time to settle down.

a lot of people discover trade runs, they use them over and over to make $$$$ they never let anyone know.

I founf a small profit run for 6-10k either some hauler took everything, or there is a bug after update.

How can a station produce something before the update, then after it no longer produce it?

Let me see if I got this right.

You used to trade a route between systems that was paying relatively nice (or at least, enough to be your main commodity run.) Now, the servers (and BG sim) have updated, taking into account all the runs that you made previously, and the supply/demands have changed? And that's broken?

Sounds like it's working to me.

Not necessarily - in theory if there is a constant demand, the same trade route should stay valuable as long as traders don't "oversupply" that demand.

before it was upside down - due of AI trading. Now they fixed it.

No I have 8 cargo cap, I am trading in the same system, some of the stations produce items, now after the update they no longer produce those items

Not if you compare the number of player trading to AI trading, from what I understood of Micheal Brooks posts in the server update thread, player trading is a tiny portion of total trading.
