Just came across a white dwarf star, almost instantly raised my heat to max.

Pretty scary, fsd in the system, saw it and instantly emergency drop because it was so hot and I am assuming it was sucking me in.

If you are using a keyboard then it is hard to slow down fast enough. I use HOTAS and do not have that problem.
The star is not sucking you in, you are just very close to the boundary when you come out of hyper-space.

White dwarfs are nasty. They radiate an insane amount of heat: Note the green border line and its distance from the stellar surface. Best bet is to set throttle to zero during the frame shift countdown to hold back from careening into a repair bill.

I can just press x which I will do next time.

White Dwarf stars are pretty nasty. Good practice is always set your throttle to zero while in hyperspace, that should ensure you keep at safe range from whatever star you warp in at.

Yep, really should be called Brown Dwarf's after the state of your Y-Fronts after meeting one :p

You can try but chances are you still might not be fast enough.

The difference with using HOTAS is HOTAS throttles can start at 0 position, so as soon as you jump out you can be at speed 0.

If you spam X before exit jumps chances are there is still a bit of delay, but that time the delay finish you might already be in the boundary. With keyboard + flight stick I've found I have to pull up right away upon exiting jump to avoid even if I zero speed.

Stars can be pretty hot, tis true! :p

I nearly died once because I flew between two stars that were very close together (there was less than one star radius between them), got dropped out of supercruise when I overheated and had some difficulty getting cool enough to supercruise out again.

White Dwarfs are Death Suns. I think that's the type that got me. What's the stellar classification for a White Dwarf? Avoid them, if possible.

haha, I printed a H-R diagram to help me figure out what to expect when i was jumping into systems while out exploring ;)
O type? Mmmmm toasty warm

You don't need to spam, just hold the key down.

Just hit X BEFORE you complete the FSD jump countdown. You'll automatically stop when you arrive at your destination.

What is the max temperature percent before the ship goes kablooey?

I've had my cobra to 135% and I was panicking lol

I was having issues getting distance from that white star.

Under 150% you won't take any damage! over 150% and the damage racks up exponentially.
You can safely hit 200-300 percent before your risking death though, I've heard even higher for some people up in the 500's

That's way higher percent than I was thinking it would be.

Good to know though if there's a next time.
