NPC Hulls seem to Absorb a TON of fire, Compared to Player Hulls?

It just occurred to me today.... I spend a LOT of time shooting through enemy hulls after taking their shields out... and it genrally takes a while to pop them, even when sub-targeting power plants etc.

But if my shields are down, I'm pretty much sure to pop really quickly. I can't imagine my hull without shields absorbing even a fraction of what I put into NPC's with no shields on. And I have a fully kitted Cobra with upgraded plating.

Honestly I've only shot at NPC's so not sure what it's like to pop an equavalent player ship.

Yep in my Cobra I used fixed beams in my bottom mounted class 1 fittings, and gimballed Multi-Cannons in the class 2 upper fittings. Burn the shield with the beams, then shred the hull with the multi cannons.

I can't say that I've noticed this.

Using appropriate weapons (kinetics are always more effective than thermics vs. hulls - though the degree can vary), NPC hulls feel about right. Higher rated opponents appear tougher (probably due to upgrades) but they die appropriately from my observations - and I've killed a lot.

My observations are that higher rated opponents have better hulls. I have military plate on my Cobra and I last much longer than I used to when my shields are down. Harmless/Mostly harmless opponents almost always lose hull way faster than higher rating opponents of the same ship type. I reckon I occasionally get one with mirrored composite still.

NPCs generally play by the same rules regarding equipment.

Higher rank NPCs are very commonly equipped with upgraded bulkheads.

Depends on the weapon and quality of that weapon you're using.
Some of the pirates I remove from the galaxy I will cut through in seconds... soon as their shields are down they're toast in 7 seconds. Others... MUCH more difficult. I guess this is because they have higher armor quality.

As for me.. I can absorb a shed load of damage in my upgraded ASP, as I could with my upgraded Cobra. Infact I didn't even bother blinking an eyelid when my Cobra lost it's shields. I would take stupid amounts of damage before there was an issue.
