Best Choice for a 2nd Car?

Hi All,

I have been hauling in my modified Hauler for a while now grinding and I have amassed around 250k Creds so far. I am looking for a new Ship, one that I can bounty Hunt and explore with.

I was thinking about a Viper as they are around 145k and I could buy some kit and weapons. I wondered what everyone else though before I spend my hard won money where my mouth is.

viper for what you need but just know that it only has 4 cargo space, not as much as hauler so trading is not viable.

If you can get to a cobra you will have a brilliant ship that will do anything. Having said that an adder seems to be the cobra' s baby brother and a pretty versatile all rounder, although ive never tried one!

Try to keep one ship at dock. As a fallback if you losing the other and can´t affort the rebuy. Also try to keep twice the amount of money for rebuy. Its hard at the beginning and takes time, i know. But its needed. Believe me...

Would think with trade in you must be close to enough credits for a cobra. If you can, and you can cover the insurance cost, I'd recommend the cobra, does everything and anything.

Thanks Guys!

I didn't realise that I was so close to a Cobra! Will have to save hard and have plenty for the insurance plus cargo initially. I won't want to go hunting in it initially as I won't want it scratched.

If you only want to bountyhunt, i would say a Viper. It has the same firepower as Cobra, maybe a bit worse defenses, but better maneuvrability, so you can avoid more damage as well. Also Viper is about 3 times cheaper to maintain when it comes to repairs and wear and tear and insurance. Cobra has advantages of bigger cargo space, but I am running my Viper without any cargo, as I hate scoping.

The income from pure bountyhunting you can make is the same in viper or cobra, but to pimp a cobra to perfection costs about 9 millions and pimp the viper only costs about 3,5 millions.

Here here. :) Sometimes i slap an 8, 4, 2 cargo in my Viper to smuggle some, then i go smash some wanteds (if they drop cargo when i hurt them i snatch that too), and when i feel like moving to a new system i switch the 2 cargo for a basic scanner (already have fuel scoop) and explore on the way. Works great so far. I have already upgraded everything on the cobra quite a few steps. Not at the top yet, but its a good ship. Sure, the Cobra will let you haul more stuff and perhaps go a bit further. I make money fast in a Viper though, thats what i wanted to say, and with some upgraded it gets worth a lot of money, enough to trade for a Cobra with a couple bucks between.

sell your hauler and buy a Cobra, you can do anything in it and better that other ships in there own specialty

when you get 10 million then you can upgrade to an ASP who can do everything better than other ships in there own specialty

Totally agree with this. I love my Viper and it can only get better (invested about 1.5 million in it so far). I love the added buzz when Authority Vessels turn up to scan you. I just wait for the all clear then start scooping up the debris. If they start sniffing again I can hightail it outta there most times. Fastest cash I ever made and most fun in doing so.

Best place to do this is around the Extraction points make sure you have a warrant scanner. When I feel the need I switch to a Scoop and a Basic Discovery Scanner and head out into the Void. I was aiming for a Cobra but now I think I'll save up and buy them both when I get the Viper I really want with it's very own chrome paint-job pimped to max the "Silver Machine"

I agree with most that getting a Viper should be your goal if BH is the only thing you want to do, or a Cobra if you need a good all rounder that is also capable at dogfights. BUT, with that kind of credits i would go for an eagle first. You can buy a few upgrades, keep some credits for at least 2x rebuy cost.
Viper is nice and all. Upgraded. Stock not so much, and you'll need at least 1m cr worth of upgrade for a decent Viper.
