Got the standard 570 GTX and it runs most games on high to ultra settings at 30-40 fps

But I´d buy a GTX 780 in 2015, if it´s down to 350€ :cool:

LOL, my plan was saving pennies for a new card (got i5 at 4.3ghz with ssd and 16gig ram now)

It's not just Elite Dangerous... It's Frontier developments Elite Dangerous.

That's like X-EveFighterStarWing, with liquor cream and 2 cherries on top

It's not just the name Elite. That's nostalgic.... You're trying to obtain the title of ELITE... you ARE one of the ELITE... and it's going to be hard enough for these sphincters to make Dangerous, Let alone dreaming of Deadly. Those of us who thought making Elite in the predecessors was easy enough (respectivly speaking) will be struggling to make it past Dangerous (at least I hope so)

If Frontier go on to release the game as "Elite: Dangerous" which it looks as though they will do so ... I could live with it. I am still of the opinion that they could have come up with a better name (even "Elite IV" would have been a better choice IMO) but I am just happy that they game I have waited nearly 20 years for is finally getting made at all, whatever it is called.

I do agree that the name is not über. I would also have preferred Elite IV in front, and something else than Dangerous at the back. But Dangerous does have meaning for people that played the previous ones, and probably is tied in with some planned game-play. Maybe first expansion will be Deadly? :)

Anyway, "Elite IV: Dangerous" is already way better IMHO.

I am glad they did not call it Elite Online though, would scare away non MMO people.

The only change I would make is putting Frontier before Elite dangerous

Frontier Elite Dangerous to me just has that ring to it that Frontier Elite 2 had and Frontier First Encounters....

Elite IV doesn't work for me, feels like its just one of them yearly upgrades to a game whereas we all know this is a game that has been 20 years in the making.............

I would perhaps put "David Braben's Elite Dangerous" rather than Frontier. DB is a name known to most, and everyone knows him for that game, so it would add the air of authenticity to it - even though we know his role is largely overseeing the game conceptually rather than writing it himself.

Put it this way - without DB's involvement in the game, I doubt very much I would have pledged a great deal.

Wouldn't be fair to the hardworking chaps and gals who are making this game come true, DB is only supervising the game not making it :)

I see your point - but my impression is that the Frontier folks are rather proud of their "famous" Chairman and it's only a name on the box to grab people's attention. It doesn't take anything away from the work that everyone has done. Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon, but it took 400,000 people to get him there. :)

I think people will just call it "Elite". Already in real conversations with people I see it referred to as "the new Elite game". It needs a tagline, of course, but at its base it's seen as a new Elite game.
