Does no one actually do combat right now?

I think everyone is more obsessed with trading than I thought.

I was worried that I was advancing slowly, being only Competent rated in combat after 6 or 7 days. However, in my time playing so far I have never seen any player rated above "Mostly Harmless" except a single person in an anarchy system rated Novice. Even in warzones every player ship is Harmless, almost.

Is the display for player rating borked, or is there just no one really doing combat?

I'm not sure how many total kills I have (forgot to check) but I've got more than 300 Bounties claimed....I think I am rated "competent".

I think its actually bugged, one player I was speaking to told me he was a novice and although i couldn't double check because we were speaking across multiple systems I was sure when i scanned him i saw harmless, he saw the same thing on mine.

There is nothing quite like flushing a few Federal pheasants from the brambles, fragment cannons at the ready.

I'm currently around Sorbago, and I flit between there and Finti when I need cash (Finti is an anarchy system with an adjacent Federation and Empire system for easy bounty cashing).

Sounds like it might be borked.

When me and my partner were out we both showed as Harmless to each other but we both had Novice Rank.

there's a bug at the moment that means your own reputation is not properly reflected to others...so other's may be higher ranked than they appear.

I was wondering this the other night as well, I've never come accross anyone higher than harmless.

Also damnation, someone bloody well interdict me - I'm spoiling for a fight. My timezone means I rarely see other players (New Zealand).

I am one of those that is not doing any combat.

I want to build up my trade empire first, and then I will use my trade profits to finance my warships. with the current trade changes, I will start up my trade empire tonight, then when I'm space trucking in a Lakon 9, I'll start joining in on the pew pew.

I can see why people aren't doing combat as much tbh...

I want that sexy Imperial Clipper, but the 24 million credits I need to buy it will take at least three weeks of VERY productive bounty hunting.

Meanwhile, if I used my ~4 million credits in assets to buy a hauler, I could be making a few hundred thousand an hour with minimal effort. Even more once I could upgrade to a Type 7.

I pretty much only do combat. It's easily the best part of the game IMO. Ranked Novice. Almost everyone else I see is ranked Harmless, but I've seen exceptions. Competent is highest I've seen so far.

I'm Competent for Combat and a Merchant for Trading right now I believe. I enjoy both.

I do a bit of everything so I am at Novice rank but that has been frozen for the moment due to not getting any increase to it in the combat warzones in Sorbago. Also done a lot of trading as well over the past week or so as well.

I play mostly combat...My first thought was being a legit bounty hunter....but the game is becoming more and more boring with the time...every day i think to get into to fed space and kill everyone and just ruin all my money so i can say the game is actually fun.

I think it must be bugged. I've mostly been bounty hunting around Sorbago and never seen anyone that was above harmless and green to me (friendly with the Empire).

Even in Achenar no player is green.

I did for a while and stopped. I've done loads of those 150k+ assassinations.

But there needs to be more depth to it, because it's just to predictable at the moment. All it consists of is randomly visiting USSs, where you find the same target every time (with a different name).

Another thing is the system that are at war (e.g. Sorbago), they should be more dangerous and unpredictable, but they aren't. If someone didnt tell you there was a war going on there you wouldnt even notice. We should see blockades and battles around stations, patrolling capships etc. Not scripted sequences and static "conflict zones".
