How many people actually miss the original music from the other 3 versions of Elite?

I first got into classical music after listening to Elite's musical tones back in 1984, which makes me feel really old.

It would be so nice to have some kind of choice to which kind of music you would like to listen to whilst docking or just as back ground music.

I could list all of the music in the Classic Elite games but I will only be telling the masses who already know there personal favorites.

The question is simple, Would you like to listen to other classic tunes, maybe a little louder as well, as you wiz around the universe killing things and docking in nice stations.

I know some will love a bit of Lead Zeppelin or Deep Purple, but I am thinking about keeping it more original..

Elite on the Electron (what I had back in 1984) had no music at all. Modern PCs are quite capable of running multiple apps at once. You could quite easily queue up a bunch of MP3s and let them play in the background. Even a Youtube music video compilation. That's what I tend to do when I want music whilst playing ED.

It has been requested at length to have an in-game .mp3 player to play your fave tracks on your PC HHD....
Sure it will come eventually!

Apols Snotface but, it's 'Led' Zeppelin!

I miss the military ranking up music for the Empire specifically. Immersion is found in the most minute moments.

I just run the game borderless, with a music player in the background.

That being said, it would be kinda cute to have an actual Guardians of The Galaxy-style cassette player in the cockpit, replete with cassette-swapping animation.

I really loved the music from the Amiga version of Frontier. Jumping through the universe to with In the Hall of the Mountain King in the background always seemed just right.

The title track was really good, too. I used to boot up Frontier just to listen to that and watch those Eagles in their doomed pursuit of the Imp Courier.

I really, really like the music in Elite: Dangerous. It hasn't gotten old and I've been playing since standard beta 1. The music/sound guys did an amazing job :)

I was particularly fond of their rendition of in the hall of the mountain king.

I went and dug them up on youtube before I got into the beta, great for nostalgia, not so much for repeat listens though. Quality isn't there really.

I have to say I liked the same thing when I had it on my home build 486 PC back in the day. First game I bought was Elite.

I find the music a little too quiet and not as forceful, you know just no Umff to it. Its good, just not good enough.

I'm not voting, I just mute the music and load up youtube :/

I do not understand why people bother listening to music from YouTube, I have a simple app on my pone called SoundCloud which allows me to download music for free. I have well over 50 gig in music, I will never need to put Radio on again lol. But still If you want to listen to other music it would be nice if we could add our own music to the game, for example "Bat out of hell" just as you jump into a system.

I wonder if they will put the old 8 tracks in the cockpit? lol I could just imagine them making loads of cash allowing people to pimp out their cockpits lol lol

Oooooh BIG time, I miss the classical tunes.

My entire life, anytime I heard one of those tunes in real life, it immediately made me think of Elite .. and that has always stuck with me.

Not that the new soundtrack is bad (although needs many more tracks IMO), I would really really love to have the old ones back in the mix without having to create my own playlists etc.

Happy Holidays All!

The original version of the original didn't have any.

I always felt that the others rather butchered the classical music but I kept the others on, a quality version of them would be interesting to hear but I like the ED music too.

I'm a big fan of the score from FFE. Any space game doesn't feel right without it IMO :)

I made a few recreations/remixes of the original tracks a few years ago for Pioneer when music was first added. (To Pioneer)
