How hot can you get?

So, I mistakenly went from fuel scooping to jumping without cooling off first, despite knowing better (was reading the forum on the second monitor, actually...). Anyway...heat got up to 287% before I was able to cool off.

Ooops.

Is there a temp at which you go "boom", or do you just continue to take damage in a near-linear way until you're destroyed?

I think it's about 145% you start taking damage - That's my limit tbh :)

Pretty sure I went up to 285% once and lived (barely) - 300% sounds a reasonable death cut off point.

I did the same thing today, got up to 290% before I managed to cool off! In and out of the game;)

It doesn't look like there is an actual "barrier" at which you go boom. It seems damage just increases exponentially as temperature rises. Doesn't it?

Yeah at 145 you get also kicked out of SC if you are scooping and that can be problematic if you are scooping....

I read someone saying heatsinks work to cool you off (you use one I suspect) but haven't checked

I needed a change of underwear at 206% once. And not in a good way. Cost me a tidy sum, I can tell you.

Never done that again.

came out od hyper today not paying attention star dropped me out of SC and without thinking i just turned and went back to SC ,,,, got to 278 took some damage :)
and i was 700 LY from occupied space.

Ive had it over 380, only lost about 30 hull for it. In the beta it would have been enough to kill me 20 times over.

150% and you start taking damage. I'm not sure if mirrored armor raises that or increases how long it takes to get to that temperature.

I've found that repair costs far outweigh fuel costs, so if you're scooping you're better off doing a continuous shallow scoop around the star rather than going in for short deep scoops. That way you prevent ever taking any damage and incurring extra fees.
