2 quick questions about the Empire

Hello everyone,

just two quick questions about the Empire.

1. The Achenar-permit: Since I got the Alioth-permit by doing missions for the faction that rules in Alioth and have their "branches" in the neighbouring systems. I looked the ruling factions in Achenar up, but did not found them in the neighbouring systems. Do you get the permit for Achenar with other factions?

2. Is it possible to gain ranks for the Empire if you are already Recruit for the Federation?

Thats it. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Yes - you just need to get friendly with a few imperial factions and take missions, eventually you will be offered an Achenar permit.

2. Is it possible to gain ranks for the Empire if you are already Recruit for the Federation?

Thats it. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Apparently so as I know a few people with ranks with both the Empire and the Federation.

I can speak to 2. Yes, absolutely. I did one mission for the lousy Feds and get a rank, and that very question worried me. I received 2 ranks with empire in the last 2 days though.

1. Keep your eye open for faction rank missions, do a few of those and you'll receive a summons to Achenar, along with the permit :) Just keep doing missions in empire systems and try to get friendly with local factions.

2. As of right now there is no penalty for rank with multiple factions. Who knows what will happen if full blown war ever breaks out though.

1. You are correct. Just run missions for empire affiliated factions and you'll get offered a rank up soon mission enough.

2. Indeed it is. As of this moment there are no restrictions on gaining rank with multiple factions.

You want to run missions for the Empire League which is the ruling faction in Achenar. That's how I got my permit and I got it when I was still just an Outsider. I'm a Knight now.
To get a permit in any system you have to run missions for the current ruling faction (the one with the highest percentage of influence in it) in that system.
Eventually they'll drop you a permit.
At least, that's what I've discovered in my travels. it's not like we have a digital booklet or anything explaining this or anything...

Thanks everyone, that was indeed quick.

Mhh, indeed it is strange to receive ranks from both factions. Anyways, thanks for the quick help. Merry Christmas everyone.

I wish I could resign my Fed rank. I don't know how the game will play out, but I think I intend to be an enemy to the Federation, so it's a bit odd that I'll have this constant reminder of the one time I said "hmm, I wonder what these rank progressions are like." prior to beginning my empire quest (for lack of a better word)

I ranked up to Viscount in a few days of solid mission running, and am a recruit with the Feds... done by mistake as I grabbed the mission too quickly without looking at the faction (yes, I had a few beers). I want to neg the Fed rank, but I'll just let it be. It may go away later.. should I decide to turn sides on the Fed. I suspect a conflict will erupt eventually.

Take missions around Achenar.. I centered around the Cemeiss system and surrounding systems for a while, which seemed to work ok. I also later moved up to Sorbago, got lots of rep there doing pirate and warzone missions. I also found a few systems within the area that peaked my curiosity. I ran missions there too. It could have been all chance, but I got a boatload of Navy rank-up missions in a very short time span. In one evening I went from Serf to Knight. Then the second day I wrapped up Viscount.

As for different systems... look for systems with special descriptions. I got some good rep and navy missions in systems that had descripts showing them as 'home systems' for the key political figures and generals of the Empire. It may be sheer coincidence that those systems helped me rank up quick. So take with a grain of salt.

I got permits for Achenar, Summerland. I have yet to see an offer for a Fecece permit. I WANT that permit, as Fecece is the imperial navy HQ (apparently). The permit systems also give decent missions, though overall I was unimpressed with them. I was hoping for special equpment, such as focused lasers and overcharged multicannons. No such thing seen in many many many many systems visited.

What systems outside of Achenar have Empire League missions, been looking for days and can't find any.

I am allied with half a dozen systems near Achenar but no sign of a permit yet.

There are only two questions you should ask any Imperial subservient:

1 - When are you going give up this antiquated form of regal sycophancy .
2 - How would you like to die.

Got mine in Delta Phoenicis. Quite a few missions out of there. Watch out for the Erlik (sp?) missions though. It's a long ways from the Nav Beacon.
