Ok so your struggling to make credits, you want that fancy new ship? here is a little guide to get you started.
.
.
1) start off by taking a mission from the bulletin board, it's best to take a mission to deliver goods or a courier mission, as this way you don't have to source the goods yourself and it's basically free money. Keep doing these mission types until you are able to afford the hauler, which retails at 52,720 credits, and make sure you can maximise its cargo capacity (fit the best cargo racks for each slot available, without losing your shields) so it can carry 16T of cargo, shouldn't cost you much more than the initial charge of the ship. Now you need to make sure you can afford to fill those 16 slots with cargo, so take that into consideration. (you can also do bounty hunting if your are a confident pilot in your sidewinder, but this little guide is for new players who are not combat ready)
.
.
2)Once you have your hauler kitted out for trading this is where it gets fun and you start to see the money coming in. Start off with simple trades for example, take mineral extractors from an industrial system to an extraction system and on the return trip take the best metals that were in demand from the industrial system back with you (cobalt is a good low end starter) 2 systems to get you started are THIIN and GEAWENKI take the extractors from Thiin and bring metals back from Geawenki. the stations to use are "Knapp vision in Geawenki" and "Brandenstein Orbital in Thiin" keep running this back and forth until you are able to move on to the higher priced metals like gold and indium, ofc always checking which ones are selling for the best price before you leave Brandenstein.
.
.
3)After following the first 2 steps you will soon be able to afford your cobra MKIII and 40T of cargo space, then you can simply repeat steps one and two and your first 1 million will shortly follow. Always make sure you can cover your insurance costs and that when you buy a new ship you can afford to fill its cargo hold and fit the needed modules.
.
.
BONUS TIPS - Always check the bulletin board every time you dock to see if there is any high priced easy transport missions or to see if anyone is buying the materials you are already carrying. There may also be courier missions to the same systems that you are already visiting that require no cargo hold space.
