Stock Viper has the jump capacity of a dead fish...

The Vipe needs upgrades to meet its true potential. My death dart is worth about 2 mil, and it's not maxed in any way, most systems are C or D with maybe one B. She screams in battle like a wild banshee
But in space, nobody can hear you scream...

Thanks guys. Recently I've been sticking around the Payayan System in Alliance territory. I'm considering selling my Viper until to help me get a Cobra (and replace my Hauler), then I'm gonna earn enough cash and move to a tighter cluster of systems that would be more suitable for a Viper. I like having variety as fighting is fun, but trading is money.

I was extremely excited to finally get my hands on a Viper after hear how great it is in combat! I threw 2 Gimbled Burst Lasers and 2 Multicannons on it, accepted a couple of combat missions, and took off into the endless space. Little did I know that this thing has the jump capacity of a Sidewinder! I've only been able to travel within about a 6 system vicinity which is extremely limiting. So far I've gone up against a Dangerous ranked Cobra and I had to retreat, severely damaged. Looks like I'm gonna have to get back to my Hauler and make some cash before I can start getting into combat missions. At least its fast, and looks pretty.

a basic fuel scoop costs like 300cr. I agree with what you say,but even with a low jump range unupgraded you can use the route planner to get pretty much anywhere. I got from empire space to right outside Alioth(Alliance) in my Viper with not much in the way of upgrades..

go buy a Cobra and see the difference

how can they be a hard drawback to a fighter who is equal strong to an all rounder, when this all rounder has no drawback at all ?

that is what i don't understand, either boost the FSD, or boost the combat capabilities of the viper
cobra can compete mildly with a Viper, but a cobra is by no means a better fighter then a Viper. PVE this does not become apparent, PVP though is a whole different story and is where the cobra will fall short against the viper.

I did the reverse, I sold my low/mid specced Cobra and replaced it with a fully upgraded Viper and on this ship I dont actually have a cargo hold, what am I a delivery boy? I have an A3 Jacuzzi instead....

Edit: Jump range is about 14ly

wouldnt trade my Viper for the world. I bough it stock and bounty hunted my way into a stable ship. Its a blast, not going for the cobra as there really isnt a need for all that cargo space. but to each his own

exactly the opposite, they are equal strong/fast in fights, but the Cobra is a tank with good Jump range and a Hell of a lot cargo

in pvp, the Viper will never ever win against a Cobra, because of the extreme high amount of shield cell a Cobra can stack (unless the Cobra is a noob of course)

so if we take shield cells in count, the Cobra is a stronger fighter, if not then they are equal, which is already not normal at all

Yeah, I used my Hauler to get me to Alliance airspace and then I bought my Viper. I didn't take the jump capabilities into consideration and I ended up buying it in a system that had some systems that could be reached, but many of the systems that I needed to get to for missions were inaccessible.
