Alliance Rank? Alliance Ships?

Currently I'm aware of Ships that you are required to have a certain Rank/Rep to get for the Empire and Fed, will the Alliance also get their own Faction Specific ships?

I'm interested in playing for the Alliance (mostly for RP reasons) but my friend is more interested in tangible rewards and doesn't see the point of going Alliance if they have no toys to offer.

Unfortunately for now the Alliance is more of a work in progress. Hopefully future expansions will bring much needed content to it.

FML I just flew all the way to Lave to join the alliance and nothing. I was wondering why the system was so bare. I was actually worried I wouldn't be able to get there because (I think) for feds and empire you need permission to get to their homeworlds.

Alliance homeworld is Alioth, not Lave, and you do need a permit to get there. I'm working on my rep with the Alliance at the moment, but so far there is no sign of rank progression such as Fed and Imperial supporters are seeing. I'm allied with the controlling faction in my home station, but still neutral with the Alliance itself. Anyone progressed further?

Ah thanks for clearing this up. I got some bad info along the way then...hope I'm close to Alioth.

Here's my thought on this - we have 2 confirmed ships for each the Federation and the Empire (Imperial Courier and I forget the Federation one are not yet implemented) and they seem to be focused on certain career paths (i.e. Imperial Clipper is a good all rounder while Federation Drop ship is a good combat ship). I would assume that both the Federation and Empire would have a 3rd ship focused on Exploration (or maybe trade). So if each faction has 3 ships, we can assume that the Alliance will also have 3 ships for a total of 9 ships that you can only get through the major factions.

I'm probably wrong, but that's what I'm hoping for.

Im friendly with the Alliance now. Im also allied with the faction in Lave and friendly with two other alliance factions in nearby systems. So.. It took a bit of time to get friendly with the Alliance. :D

I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. Fed and Empire Naval Ranks really mean very little right now and are not yet working properly.


  • You can belong to both Navies at once
  • It is ridiculously easy to gain rank
  • You do not need the specified rank to buy the ships (a much lower rank is enough)
  • The Missions are no different from the regular missions you get for trading or bounty hunting
  • Advancement merely requires grinding Missions - you can safely ignore any message telling you to go to a Permit Only system to receive special orders: there aren't any
  • There are no other benefits to rank as far as I can see.

I have been working on getting friendly with the alliance for ages. Good to know there is hope
