Half way to my mystery object in the Sol system. It'll probably turn out to be a badly-lost Sidewinder knowing my luck.
edit: Funny I should say that, I've just passed a Sidewinder and a Fed Viper heading in the other direction from it.
I'm sure FD is saving some of the great stuff on SOL for an expansion and that's just a plain lie.
You know what it is? Should I have been reading another thread?
Would been nice with some special extra large station in SOL for sure indicating people been there a long time and used it as a hub outwards. Like space stations to build large ships in etc. Not that fussed though. It will be interesting to see what will come later on.

I'm just trying to grind up to Cobra from my Sidewinder, I could've bought Hauler but decided not to in the end.
I'm a beta backer and during all the testing we were told that SOL was going to be a jewel, something great and that's why they were keeping SOL out of the testing phases. I just went there today and it's just the same thing just much more stations but all the same, SOL has nothing to differentiate it from the other system other than I actually know the names of the planets, serious disapointment, I'll continue playing Elite cause is a pretty good game but won't be buying expansions, I'm sure FD is saving some of the great stuff on SOL for an expansion and that's just a plain lie.
FD lost a customer (except if they come up with a new roller coaster tycoon game)
You must like grinding.Mathematically, you'll get to the Cobra *much* faster with a Hauler if you are trading.
I'm happy with how it is for now. But if I'm honest, I thought we might see the cities of Earth lit up on the dark side of the planet, sort of the way Astronaut Chris Hadfield described that they looked from the International Space Station...
I realise this is a lot of work tho..

To be fair, I too recall Frontier mentioning that the were spending more time on it because it was special, and I also remember seeing a picture of an artistic work (which i'm sure was by Frontier) of a highly industrialised planet from space. Kind of looked a bit like the shot in the movie Contact when Ellie looks down at the planet, sees a city, an says "They're alive!" Before being moved on again in the wormhole.
I imagine time constraints, workload and deadlines had something to do with it, I think we'll probably see more detail in Sol over time.
FD are already planning on implementing seeing lights from populations on the dark side of planets. Different factions will have different styles.

As long as Earth looks like Earth, I don't really care to be honest. I didn't like that it had become some strange beige sand world in First Encounters!
