Full release has turned out to be the worst gaming experience I've ever had...

Which is a shame, because throughout premium beta, full beta, and gamma I really didn't have too many issues.

But 4 days into full release and I have had nothing but trouble.. First of all I spent the first four days of release traveling to the galactic core, on getting there I discovered there are sectors of space around it that are completely broken. You try to hyperspace into them and you're disconnected, but worse is your character remains in limbo and cannot log back into the game.

So in goes a "stuck character" ticket.

Three days later I get a message saying they can't fix the issue or allow me to log in at my current location due to technical issues but they can return my character back to its last docked position (25,000 light years away!). I explain that the amount of time I committed to reach the galactic core regions (50+ hours) was a big time investment that I probably won't be able to repeat and if they couldn't move me to a nearby sector I would prefer to stay where I am until the issue is fixed.

I wait another day, and to their credit they get back in touch and inform me I have been moved to a new system nearby and should be able to log back in.

Great.

I log back in - two jumps later I'm disconnected and can no longer log back in... another bugged system it seems.

Another day goes by and they're back in touch, this time they moved me to an entirely new sector adjacent to the one that is broken. They inform me that if it happens again there will be no one left in game support to move me until after the Christmas period.

Fair enough.

I log in, and you guessed it, 1 jump later and bam, disconnected, can't log in.

Another entire sector of broken star systems it seems?

Ticket re-opened.

This time I've given up. Faced with not being able to play over the Christmas period I finally ask to be returned home as its obvious the game is in the galactic core regions (they said as much and mentioned a fix for it is slow going at the moment).

So they return me back to the station I set out from last week. 50 hours travel time down the pan but at least I'm back in stable systems and can play over Christmas....

But the nightmare aint over though, because after finally logging in I find that all my stats have been reset to zero. Its like my character was wiped. I at least got to keep the credits but all other stats are gone, the 4000 systems I'd visited (1700 of them before this particular trip), all reset back to zero, my combat stats all zeroed, trade stats zeroed, exploration stats.... all zeroed.

And the icing on this particularly sour cake, I can't even sell any of the data I collected as apparently I collected too much and stellar cartography can't list it (possibly due to an overflow or some other reason?), bottom line is I can't sell any of it so I'm effectively station bound on fear of losing it all if I die.

This is all I get, and it does nothing...

Cheers Frontier, merry Christmas!

:( sorry to hear you're having issues. I wonder what the problem with the galaxy is that's causing the issue. Hopefully FD can sort it out in the new year....

Have some rep to ease the pain :)

I'm not sure what the issue is but something in full release has broken a lot of sectors in the galactic core and no one is saying anything about it. There are players who are on their way there now, its a trip that takes days to complete and all they're going to get is frustration and a broken character at the end of it if my experience is anything to go by.

Frontier are quick to promote the 400 billion star systems line, but how many are actually broken? They should warn players not to go too far until these issues are fixed.

I'm more disheartened by having all my stats wiped than being returned 25,000 light years. My stats took weeks to acquire.

Holy cow ! haven't played for a few days now, frankly it was just getting tedious anyway. I rekon this game might be sweet in about another 12 months :)

If a procedurally generated system is causing a disconnect then it will likely remain undetected until someone creates a ticket to report the problem. The more people that head out there and find them, the better for future explorers.

It definitely sucks for the pioneers like yourself though.

From what I gather from the support tickets, its not just individual systems, but could be entire sectors of space that are broken. I was placed in different sectors at one point and it still occurred, eventually I was sent back to the last station I was docked at as the local systems are very stable and playable.

They were new, unvisited systems during gamma or previously working systems?

This sucks, but I guess it was hard to entirely avoid this. Fingers crossed it gets fixed first thing in 5th.

I don't think they were previously visited systems. Only one other player has been to the core (and that was pre-release during gamma) and although he got constant disconnects the deeper into the core he went he was able to get here because he was able to log back in and continue. So something post-release has made things worse as now when you're disconnected you can't log back in. Game support has to get your ticket then physically move your ship to a new location - then you can log in. Then it happens again, rinse and repeat.

By sounds of it algorithm that governs player transfer between servers to merge them together gets screwy.

Kind of interesting that some Cmdrs feel the need to rush off and find/explore core systems and some rush off to find the edges of the known universe? I have stayed in a researched system not far from my spawn point, and got to know the trade routes around 20 systems inside out. Explored virtually all systems around them and when I fancied a change went bounty hunting in several of the anarchic systems.

Got 3 Million credits and four ships with top of the line modules! I've been to Sol a couple of times to figure out the route planning and to date no issues/broken systems? I think sometimes that others are playing a completely different game to me? Will go exploring and go to core systems, but when I am ready!

i wonder what causes the corrupted saves? Is it some screwup with negative location numbers or something? Hopefully, as a server side error, FD will be able to fix it before alot of people get there.

Well its a good thing that there are players who like to push the extremes and get out of the home systems, otherwise these issues would go unknown until you stumbled upon them. Be thankful that by the time you get out there, the issues other players are finding will be well and truly fixed for you. :p

Besides I'd had enough of doing the stuff you mentioned by the end of gamma. Earned my credits, rigged out my Asp, and decided to do some deep space exploring for a while, despite the issues I find it far more enjoyable than trading :)

I ran into this same problem. The difference is in spite of putting a ticket in on time with the proper information and log, support has ignored me anyway, so apparently by no fault of my own I'm locked out of Elite until January.

Stay out of the center quarter of the galaxy. It might be pretty in there, but it's not worth the migraines.
