I like a lot this game.....but it has a big problem.... solo mode, group mode and open play can't be the same universe, they must be different universes.
It's really absurd, play the same universe with people you can't see, without any risk.... i can play solo make alot money and go to open play to fight or not without any risk...
What happend with pirates roll??? nobody go to play traveling full of cargo with the risk to be killed for players pirates at open play....

Please, make solo play like a single player at another server, cant be the 3 modes at same universe.

If froniter don't do that, this game go'll to be played only for carebears hidden at solo play, and never will grow up like a real mmo with a real inmersion.

Sorry for my english, i hope frontier do that...

I think this is appropriate.

All you wannabe-scrappers, yes you with the excess amount of rage and testosterone running about clubbing baby-elites....

Got your attention?

Yes?

How about starting a Combat Arena in a system somewhere dedicated specifically to all types of blood-sport, ie a league of sorts that caters to all players with a specific PvP mindset. That way you can enjoy the best of your world without hindering others to a greater extent. Would make for spectacular viewing, akin to the Gladiator arenas of old - I dare say people will pay good cargo to view a jolly good death-match or two.

What say you?

I play solo, I don't plan to play in open until they implement the wings feature and then I can group with my friends.

I wouldn't have a problem with making the solo players have their own universe. I don't think that would solve the problem of not enough players in the open game though. It would just mean those people playing solo would stick to their own universe and not occupy the open universe.

I don't like PVP. I've never liked PVP. I have no interest in being involved in combat with other "real" players. I originally planned to skip buying Elite: Dangerous for that reason until I read a preview from someone who said it would have offline and solo play options. The offline went away which I don't mind because I still have solo which works for me. If they did away with solo play I would not say "oh well" and play open. I would just quit and play something else.

I think the current mechanism of solo, group, and open is a great solution to a complicated problem and will maximize the possible appeal of the game to the broadest number of players.

Not at all. PvP is perfectly legitimate - but it's not either A: what this game is all about, or B: in any way affected by people choosing to play in solo or groups.

The only affected party is C: those who only want to kill other players, and whine when they cannot.

Then I'm a terrible pirate? I'm not understanding what you're trying to say? Oh I get it, you're one of those who think any form of pvp is griefing, right?
Earlier you accused someone else of 'ignorantly dismissing' your point, when you yourself dont seem to understand how this game actually works.

How long have you been playing?

I never bought the game to play as an MMO, I have no interest in playing with 5yr olds out for a kill without any more motive than blowing you out the sky for no reason.

Oh it's simple - they reason that if they blow you up, they've shown you who's boss and it makes them feel all warm and snuggly inside. If you blow them up however, you've cheated and they'll sic their whole clan on you - so that their gang can show everyone who's boss.

Then they can have a little party, maybe some root beer and perhaps even a slice of cake. After all, they've shown all 400 billion systems exactly who are the most hardcore gamers of all time.

Yeah, the whole solo thing is a bit odd, imo. If you're scared of being shot at in a virtual universe then you'd better stay in bed.

you sir obviously have never owned a business or have no clue at all about how things work in the real word.
Stay in bed would kill sales, so yeah...... /fail

Please use the search function as this topic has come up time again. And now we are way past beating any sort of resemblance of a dead horse.

Elite does not need to separate the game modes.

You are wrong about all traders as I always play open play and often trade with expensive cargo.

If this game does not change much I will still enjoy it for some months to come but I hope it will be successful for much longer to come. I think the game as it stands is an excellent starting point and a work in progress. However if the MMO implementation isn't improved (I think it will be) I don't see it being a long term success if the game continues to be marketed as an MMO. I think the current reliance on Galnet to tell players their side won/lost because of the "support of hired independent pilots" that the player may never see despite maybe spending hours in the affected system will attract ridicule from commentators critiquing the game as an MMO. The situation will be all the more confusing for players operating in small low population systems that may see inexplicable changes in faction influence without the benefit of Galnet commentary. It also seems pointless to aggregate the actions of players operating in their own parallel universes just to claim to be an MMO - why not just let FD write the storyline as it sees fit to create the most interesting dramas; actually as it stands we would be none the wiser if that is exactly what is currently happening. I am quite happy for ED to be non-MMO. I am not happy for it to be a bad MMO (though excellent in other respects) with this nonsense invisible PvP. For me the best commercial way forward for FD is to produce a good MMO and a good sol/private experience. I don't think may fans of MMOs will currently rate ED as an MMO - I may be wrong - and in fact I think FD will improve the MMO aspect. I hope solo/private get a good experience that does not impact the MMO game. Enough said!

Nope ain't going to happen.

Next thing you'll ask for is regional servers....

I like to put mayonnaise in the toaster and smell it.

I like to dance to the tune of a slightly off piano whilst eating Jalapeños from a barrel in my underwear but does anyone care? No I tell not in slightest! Bloody proletariatas! (proletarians, proletariei, proletariums?)

Bon Noel Everyone!

Alex, the populated Galaxy is huge and even in open I have rarely encountered anyone, so that alone making a forced change isn't actually going to affect much if anything...

And that's without getting into instancing etc....

Finding a group of friends and agreeing on a home system is probably best imho.

This topic keeps coming up and Frontier have shown zero inclination in changing it.
