I spend most of my time deep in Empire space near Achenar. This last week I was very involved in the warzones at Sorbago and Buricuass or whatever it's called fighting on the side of the Empire. Though I've been known to be seen around Lave as well. Once I'm comfortable financially, I'll probably invest in a heavily customized exploring ship and take off somewhere. I've always been something of a hermit who likes living on the fringes of civilization. As the game and the factions grow, I'll move out to the outskirts of occupied space and find a quiet hovel to call my own while hunting for the pirates that do the same thing.

The pirates harassing newer/smaller settlements are often worth the most.

Would be nice if they did something akin to EVE's galaxy map, and gave the option to see player density within the last 24 hours for systems.(Assuming something like that is possible for this game)

I've bumped around a bit but I keep coming back to the beta systems ...Eranin, Aulin, etc. I did work up some rep with Federal Congress @ Sol and Blue Trader Commodities @ Wolf 349, I like that area with Duamta as well. I went over to Sobrago to check out the conflict. But for me the beta systems just seem to have that familiarity that makes me call them Home.

I tend to do the Lave/Altair run with rares.

When I got nothing else on (rarely) I bum around Van Maanen's Star - not the star itself as I dont have the permit but the nearby systems. I like doing missions for the theocracy there. :)

But atm I've been hauling personal weapons to Durius out of a sense of duty as as a patriotic Federal citizen, and occasionally indulging in a bit of pewpew there in my Cobra.

I did a trip to the Coalsack Nebula and back a while ago, that was fun, though perhaps picking a dark nebula was a bad choice...

"See, the problem with space, is that it's black. And the problem with a dark nebula, is that it's black.".

I played open from gamma to release but have only played group since release since I figured I'd let the new stream of players do their own thing without crossing paths. Looking forward to open more when coms works better.

well as a trader why should they go into open???
really even as a pirate im asking myself why my victim should come to me. there is no sense int it

I don't think you should strive to get the advantage, that's just being a parasite. It's a game. I never play in solo mode because I care for the player pirates, and I know the joy in robbing a player. Also, I've never been robbed before and I'm looking forward to it! Many people are really good sports about it, and all in all, it's about fun, not credits.

- Have to be Federation, preferably not too far from the Evil Empire

Evil Empire? I should skin you right now and hang your rear on my wall, use your skin as a dormat! How dare you insult such a fine regime?

You not reading these forums caused me to delete my save and then shoot myself! How can I feed the kittens then?

Please, consider the kittens!

Oh Im reading the forums. I wish I could stop, but its like that 5 car pileup on the other side of the highway you just can't take your eyes off. The majority of players are not reading them though.

Trying to bring myself to login and bother trying to squeeze 400 credit profit per item on trade runs..however running a rusty saw under my fingernails has been more entertaining tonight..oh and wrapping presents.

I'm hanging around the Lave/Leesti/Diso/Reorte/Etc area myself, always in open. I usually see one or two people in just about every instance I'm in. Since this is P2P, I'm assuming most of the people I see around me are geographically local and have all been legit. Bounty hunters and traders... I've yet to have another human fire on me and have meet some pretty cool CMDRs out there. Don't know if that is the norm or not.

As for PC pirates, I imagine it will go the same with any NPC pirates I meet out there. I submit to almost every interdiction unless I'm in a hurry. And when asked what I'm carrying, the answer is always a Kill Warrant Scanner and a whole bunch o' bullets. You're welcome to my entire load. :)
