Retractable fuel scoops

No, but it dramatically increases your heat.

I guess you'll just have to learn to be a better pilot, eh? You can't win'em all. There IS a thing called failure and sometimes even your best isn't good enough. Teaches you situational awareness and makes you a better overall pilot.

Edit: BTW, you can disable your fuel scoop in your right-hand screen.

And disabling the fuel scoop seems to have no effect on getting hot by a star.
Distance and velocity but not if the fuel scoop is on or not.

As others have said, the scoop has nothing to do with the heating up near a star. Sadly, this suggestion is null & void due to that fact. Sorry OP, but if you want to stop your ship from heating up, get away from the big ball of nuclear fusion whose radiation is heating you up due to your proximity to it.

Doesn't make much sense as things stand though. Where is the thing? Shouldn't a scoop be something you deploy? And shouldn't it only work if the scoop is on the sun facing side? Just feels like a half-implemented mechanic.

yes we should be able to retract it to reduce drag in space.... oh wait.....

please dude, just stop

Where is it on my ship then? I can't see it :p

Description is in the outfitter for all equipment.

Pretty sure the worse scoops built up heat faster, though to be honest that might not be right.
