I can't believe some aren't bored with this game

Serious question - have you EVER read a novel?

To some, playing Elite - let me paraphrase your words - the old peoples way, is much like reading a novel. Some gamers like to relax with a good game just like one might relax with a good book. You should try it sometime.

I'm also 23 and I actually love this game. Open world sandbox in space on a scale such as this is something I've been awaiting for a very, very long time. Especially when EVE Online was limited by its massive, player-run Alliance, which honestly, ruined a lot of potential for that game.

Let me also say @OP, nobody cares about how much money you make a month, or about your self-entitled desire for instant gratification. This game was advertised, for a very long time, as a game that would not force players into getting griefed in the way that EVE did. It has also been stated that the business model won't be subscription fees but instead paid expansions that will continue to add content.

The game as it is right now, is just the foundation. If you're bored with it right now, stop playing and come back after the developers have had time to build upon it and quit wasting your time whining on the forums about people who enjoy the game. I believe the latest Call of Duty is currently on sale in Steam if instant gratification means so much to you.

Eh, I'm having fun. This is a true child of the original Elite games, I enjoyed them, I enjoy this, the more so for having a couple other groups of like minded folk with whom I share the experience. I am neither a twentysomething nor a fortysomething.

Stopped reading after the first couple of lines... not going to read a wall of text. But from what I can tell this is another rant from a unhappy PVPer that does not have enough to shoot at.

Are you seriously comparing reading a good book, to playing a game where you do trading and "exploring" missions? facepalm

This ''game" is my dream , I want to be a space pilot and not have my real life boring job. the fact that a game lets me do that is awsome , yes X is there but its too fast and has an ''end game'' (of sorts) elite is my carrier were I am small , like everyone else. if its not for you , then I feel bad for you and I hope you find your game.
but for me , elite is my game I love it so much , the only thing I dont like is the poor AI

Some random toughts:

1. Imagination: listen to Einstein who once said: The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. ;-)

2. Hype: Why the hell people buy expensive stuff w/o even playing the game? Now with your over expectation you are in the position you dont like (and lots of money lost).... I bought my X52 after 30 hours in elite world.

3. Visiting 10k stars etc...: I do not plan to do it. I play slow and not that much. I disagree with you regarding gaming addiction. I guess lot of those older players share that attitude. I belive the game may get boring to me before I reach 10k systems visited... but hey... it wont happen soon. The game isnt very reach in tearms of features... therfore playing slow pays off... Hey... you will have more time for your business and be safe from gaming addition... ;-)

If you prefere shooters or fast games... choose other games. It is like with movies. Some like transformers and some (like me) prefer these slow once... ;-)

PS: sry fir my english

Yet, not a word was said about pvp in the entire text. :D
Stop making yourselves a fool guys. You are all so 90's.

There isn't a game in existence that I've not gotten bored of. The insignificance of that fact is something I'm keenly aware of. Which is why I don't make a post on the forums telling everyone I'm bored.

I played Quake 2 online for years and only stopped playing because servers dwindled and cheaters were rife can't say I ever got bored, a good game remains a good game and doesn't get boring imho, but other people can spoil it for you by cheating :) the thing about a game like that is you are playing in the moment, with ED you can literally read a small novel whilst playing :) most of the time anyway:)

I am having fun in ED and am thankful that it is different to all the other games out there which actually do bore me, but ED does not bore me.

Hey hey, I never said I lost lots of money and never blamed Elite for that. I am still going to use this gear to play other games.
And as for imagination - instead of playing elite I can take a piece of paper and run around my apartmenent screaming pew pew, imagining myself in space. Does that make me more of a than if i was imagining stuff in elite??

Everybody needs to agree here - gaming is a drug. When you play computer games, you are an addict, and you get in them something that real life doesn't provide you. I found out the reason of me gaming - sense of achievement. While I am achieving lots in real life, being only 23 years old alone in Canada, running a web design business for a few years, which will soon bring me 5 figures a month, I still feel the urge from time to time to get some instant gratification in games. I call it a hobby, and try to keep it this way.

Nope, I don't agree and I'll tell you why.
Gaming is a profession for me, for starters. You can't generalize, sure there are gamer addicts.. but it's not always the case. Some of us are so well off we can enjoy whatever we want in our free time.
Additionally, you post that you're going to make 5 figures a month as an achievement? I'm 50 now, but when I was your age I had my own business also and was already making 6 figures... so you see, achievement, gratification and levels of expectation and needs in life vary from person to person. You don't have all the answers, nor are you qualified to have a valid opinion regarding others just because this game bores you.

Now kindly get a life and stop judging others, lest you be judged also.

So there we are - your real life boring job. So how about you do something about it, and enjoy life for once, instead of plummeting yourself into fantasies in an imaginary world? :D

Don't feed the troll, look at his post history...7 posts, ALL of them in this thread. The OP is just on a troll account and probably doesn't even own the game.

When will FD realise that they need to lock the forums to read only unless the poster has an active, paid (bought the game), account.

I agree with the OP , he explained it all with good manners and very clear.

If this game does not give more social tools to allow pvp, corpos , interacto with other players in some way , is going to be a self hosted single player ( WITH NO STORY, wich is sad as hell for a single player game) in a few months when they cant pay the devs..
