Newcomer / Intro Can't find better Pulse Laser

Hello everyone,

right now I've got 2 gimballed Pulse Laser Class 2 Rating F on my Viper and I'm thinking about an upgrade, but I can't find any better gimballed Pulse Laser.
Searched High-Tech and Industrial systems.

I've also got 2 missile racks equipped right now.
Should I get another 2 lasers instead?

Thanks and regards,
CMDR Bratwurst

There's no such thing as a 'better' pulse laser in the same size category I'm afraid. All class 2 gimballed pulse lasers will be an 'F'.

You used to be able to find weapons with prefixes such as "low heat" or "focused", but they appear to have gone for the game. Balance issues perhaps?

Yes, I use some 30k fixed lasers and 70k seeker missiles on my Cobra seems like a good mix I can one shot anything below Viper which saves me a lot of time and the lasers take a long time to overheat. (talking about NPC's).

Fixed lasers do more damage *if* you can stay on target 80% of the time. I find this not to be the case so get more damage throughput with gimballed even though they're lower damage technically. Perhaps extremely skilled pilots with a joystick setup could get more damage out of fixed (I have neither).

A combination of small pulse lasers and medium multi-cannons (both gimballed) will give you enough dps for anything; lasers only for the shields and then both for the hull.

Are gimballed weapons 100% accurate? Cause I've been using them initially but I noticed they don't always hit the target especially if it's 1km+ away so I switched to fixed because I can fire more accurately myself.

I guess I'll give the multi cannons a try, but the missiles also work kinda good.

No they're not 100% accurate, they're more accurate up close and I *heard* that having better sensors installed improves their accuracy, I don't know if that's rumour or fact.

I find though that using gimballs means that I can focus totally on positioning (and damage avoidance) which means I kill things faster and more safely than with fixed. I'm a competent flyer but mouse and keyboard so haven't found a way to fly with flight assist off comfortably, perhaps a joystick/FA off pilot would tell you different.

Well I guess the damage over time is better with gimballed weapons? Or you have fixed weapons and hit almost everything. I own a X52pro and the damage throughput is better with gimballed weapons. Especially because I'm mostly bounty hunting in anarchy systems and have often 3+ enemy's on the radar.

Let's say damage over time with gimballed weapons is constant, with fixed it varies depending on your skill.
