i fail to understand the problem
Well let's see.... I'll start with basic functions that I used to use playing MUDs in 1994 that don't exist in ED 20 years later.
A trade function that swaps item(s)/currency A for item(s)/currency B without jumping through a bunch of arbitrary hoops or using other game mechanics to ad-hoc it.
Persistent written communication. For some reason Email doesn't exist in ED and this perturbs me. Being able to leave a note to my friends that while they were offline Such and Such happened, and so on was going on and Ishmael was there is just a basic tool. No, their out of game email isn't sufficient either.
Grouping, or in ED: Wings. This is such a fundamental mechanic it should've never been delayed until after release. Ever.
Proper instancing in OPEN PLAY. Some of us consider private groups with your friends some of the most mindless gameplay imaginable. Instancing with friends in open play needs to be fixed.
Sharing rewards should not require taking turns, jettisoning cargo or any other arbitrary means of transferal. It should also share faction rewards and penalties. If my friend assists me in a conflict zone for missions that I picked up in the station and they didn't, they should get the same faction bonuses and penalties that I do.
There are many, many more simple and fundamental things that are essential for making cooperative play a reasonably rewarding experience instead of an obnoxious chore. And like I said, none of this is new, it's not something that pampered kids playing WoW have learned to take for granted. These basic functions have been in online games for over two decades and they are there for a reason.
