Kill Pirate Mission - Keeps Changing

I have taken the kill three pirates mission several times now and every time, some pirate tries to talk me out of it and to kill civilians instead. These encounters always change the mission without my agreement. How can I stop this happening?

yeah... these automatic changes are bad... it should be that you must choose... and the change needs to be motivating so it's a challenge, like double the money or something as it happened that I got a mission changed meaning it screws the reputation you actually try to increase with a faction, and get worse pay off on top.

to avoid this basically for now don't drop in USS while on mission ever. (hunt pirates at nav beacon)

It doesn't change anything. You can still resume with your mission and ignore the alternative.
Some missions can get bugged like that, but not pirate missions, to my knowledge.
Edit: only the title gets borked, but mission is fine.

I can confirm that it is the entire mission log entry that changes. Mine changed from kill pirates to "is this really how you want to be remembered? Come talk to me at Flint Outpost (or something, some rediculously far away place...) and I will help you wash the blood off your hands," and the pay went from like 1600 cr to 950 cr. It was only after the time ran out on the missions that they both showed up separately in my list.

Also the ship I was scanning when I received the "counter offer" wasn't even a pirate I don't think, he showed up "clean"? Maybe I am missing something there. was my first try at a kill pirate mission

It does not change the mission. It adds an additional opportunity to go and kill some bounty hunters or authority ships instead.
The only stupid thing is that when you receive the counter offer - your mission kill count is reset, eg. if you have killed 2 from 4 pirates you will need to start all over again.

After the alternative mission comes up you can still follow your initial targets. Just search for pirates and kill them. But remember that not all wanted ships are pirates. And clean ships can be pirates to. You can always add a little cargo in your hold to encourage NPCs to attack you.

I had a mission where I had to kill 5 pirates. I killed 3 already (showed in the mission description). After I met a NPC trying to talk me out of it and the mission description changed my pirate kills got reseted. Anyone else have this happened?

it happens to everyone. the kill count resets after the "clean" pirate intervenes, but that's good 'cos it means more bounty for you :)

Well pardon my simpleton mind, I read like this:

...Kill Authority.... blah blah...
... blah blah blah .. we will pay you.. blah blah .. 5 k to kill 10 cops so you can't even pay for your own bounty.. blah blah blah
Authority:3 < no
Pirate:4 < yes
KILL!

:D

He paid his bounty so you don't blast him :)

You can also not look at the transmission panel after the offer, but just sc or jump out. It will not change then. Looking at the transmission panel after the offer changes the look of the mission brief, but not the mission itself.
