I have Restartitis :l new combat vessel needed...

Everytime I get to a certain point after fully pimping out my viper, I restart/clear my save. There is zero challenge. This means we neeed another(maybe two) bridging vessel in between viper and python/anaconda perhaps a corvette/frigate class ship?...

We'll also need higher tier AI enemy vessels...

EDIT: Cobra is NOT a combat vessel... but as most of us know, is rather a great all rounder.

Why?

You're not very clear as to why you're restarting. If it is that combat offers no challenge, how is introducing some new intermediate combat craft going to address that? True it'll give you a ship to aim for, but if the mechanics of getting those ships is the thing that's boring you, then the problem isn't with the number/variety of ships.

Try the Imperial Clipper.

I agree there should be more ships, soon hopefully.

Zero challenge after a pimped viper... seriously, only another viper can take me on fairly. Perhaps I restart because the beginning of the game is the most memorable and challenging. IDK.
But we really need another dedicated combat ship.

If there is no challenge then surely it must be SOOO easy for you to get a cobra, then asp, then clipper etc. No?

Those aren't dedicated combat vessels though...

My point is that from a viper/cobra is too long a stretch too a python. Can't make enough credits in combat.

I'm hoping that the Fer De Lance will fill that gap, Although I think you're nuts for clearing your save, I just went exploring and trading.

Also I found a Cobra to be an excellent combat ship for hunting larger prey

That's what I thought you meant.

How does providing even "better" combat ships make the challenge more...challenging (;)) for you?

Unless you're talking about PvP rather than PVE?

For PvE, nothing is challenging, Elite Anacondas are probably the most difficult thing in the PvE game (and they're really not).

The only solution I see for that is increasing the odds against you - perhaps an encounter with an Elite Anaconda, plus 4 or 5 escorts (Vipers) would provide a greater difficulty?

2 basic suggestions

Don't fully pimp out your ship to increase the challenge
Try something else in the game

Yeah, even the odd Elite Anaconda can give me a bit of trouble. Some escorts would be AMAZING. But yeah higher tier enemies would be great.

Guess there are two kinds of people: that like a challenge and that like leisure and power. Me, personally, I really enjoy flying my pimped out cobra and picking out easy targets for 20k bounties and up. They are paying for my A4 FSD drive.

Then ASP should be up to the challenge with you until you get the Python...
Whaaaaat? I can take out ASP under 30 seconds with Cobra that has mounted two multicannons and two burst lasers. I imagine Viper can do it even faster

I can take out a conda with a Viper, that was not the point.

FLYING the ASP (a 6M ship in beween Viper and Python) would be the challenge.

I do this all the time in games, particularly MMOs, for exactly that reason - there is usually more progression at the start and it can be fun to try out different approaches from the start. I wonder if Frontier might implement additional character slots for those who like to do that (as most MMOs do). Altitis isn't a disease, but a valid way of playing...

I haven't been playing for long, but I do think, that when I get everything tricked out, I will eventually get bored. No game lasts forever, of course, but I suspect that something like what is called "endgame" in MMOs would be a good addition - i.e. some way for advanced players to get more challenge. At least with 400 billion star systems there should be plenty of space for that. I wonder if Frontier are planning alien civilisations or something like that?
