I just find it hard to know what type of systems are good to trade with other systems. E.G Industrial to High tech? Extraction to refinery?
Any tips guys?

See what is cheap and has a MED to HIGH rating. Check on the right to ensure there is a system to be exported to. Go to the galaxy map, select view, switch off all the filters, then switch on the commodity group eg metals, and the individual commodity eg aluminium and you should see arrows where you can sell the stuff.
If you do this and land at a station where you make a loss there may be other stations / outposts in system where you can sell it.

Yep done that, but its no indication of making much profit.
It absolutely is. Supply and demand indicators are all you really need to know as they are a proxy for the prices. If you trade a commodity that is high supply in one system to another where it is high demand you will make a good profit, often over 1000 Cr per ton for something in the 5000+ Cr price range. Medium demand generally means they'll pay about the galactic average for that commodity. Medium supply generally means the buy price will be a bit below the galactic average. So trading medium supply to medium demand will get you a small profit.
The key is to find two systems that complement each other: high supply -> high demand in both directions for valuable goods. I've had good profits trading performance enhancers or progenitor cells out of high tech systems with something like beryllium from a refinery system on the return trip. The only way to find a good route is to check stations manually, the galaxy map will give you an indication but no guarantees.
