What happens to your ship when your not playing?

I'm wondering what happens to your ship when your not playing?

If you in the hanger doe's it become free for other players?

if you just logout when in space can you ship still be seen and blown to bit by others?

It disappears. It only exists in the game universe when you are logged in. Logging out in space causes your ship to disappear too, but I'm not sure if there is a small delay before the ship is unloaded. There should be a timer, to prevent players from quitting to avoid ship destruction in combat.

valets come and park in the long stay park...check your mileage, if you have a really nice ship they may use it for joy riding.
.
When you logout you ship and status are saved...it says 'save and exit' when you quit

It disapears the moment you log out, When you are in danger the server makes you wait 15 seconds before you can manually log out.

You have to understand that there is no "game universe" on servers, they only track your general position and store your save game. Otherwise, it is just a bunch of local "universes" connected peer to peer to simulate all of this. So the only place where they could put that timer was the "Save and Exit" menu they had which is extremely lame because it is easier and faster to just kill the game process and restart. And the best way to cheat in PvP would be actually not even that but configuring your firewall to block all peers on demand.

True, though the main reason a logout timer is useful is in those PvP situations, in which case your instance exists on more than one computer. If you disconnect or block the connection to save your ship, details about your ship and its state could easily persist on the other peer systems long enough for the outcome to be resolved and recorded. Of course, the challenges of actual implementation means it isn't near as easy as any of that, and FD will give us the best that can work within the design of the game architecture.

Witch space, it goes into Witch Space.

Hmm, actually I bet 90% aren't gonna get the reference. =/

I think there's a 15 second logoffski delay... IIRC it was implemented at some point in Beta.

If you are logged on you are in game. If you are in the hanger the pad is occupied in the instance you are in.

When you log out (save n exit or save to menu) your ship disapears from the game.

15secs is not enough of a logoff timer imo. 30+ would be fairer when in a combat situation.
