What was happening 22 / 23 December to Cause 6000cr per unit of Imp Slaves?

I noticed earlier in the week that Imperial Slaves were fluctuating between ~10k cr and ~16k cr. It appeared that the value was changing on the turn on the hour, sometimes every hour on other times every few hours. It was therefore possible to by Imperial Slaves at 10k cr and sell at 16k cr. In a Lakon 6, this equalled 600k cr in profit for a one-way trip. This stopped on 23rd December midday.

So...my question is what happened in the game during this period to cause this fluctuation?

EDIT: Just to add. I understand why the price just increased...due to the outcome of the war.

What I am interested in is if it is possible to replicate whatever was causing the price to change on an hourly basis...

The faction system also seems to have had an effect on where ordinary slaves where available for purchase too, outside of anarchy systems.

Senator Torval has been pushing for more relaxed movement of slaves within the Empire, as such when she gained her crushing victory at Sorbago she got her way and the sudden spike in prices reflected all the new trade options opening up.

They adjusted some trade processes 12/23 that seemed to have leveled all trade items to a 300-600 credit profit per item. Whatever was affecting the Imperial Slave prices was "fixed" by that patch also.

That is incorrect in my neck of the woods. Since the Christmas trade balance, I am pulling a run with 1300/ton profit 1 way, and 950/ton profit on the return trip. It has also been fluxuating day to day, albeit in small steps since my area is not heavily traded by players.

Well that is certainly the rare event then as I have been in well over 50 systems since the update and have yet to see any trade profit per item over 600/per (except for rares of course). Cool beans you are stuck trading the same run over and over to make some decent credits. Good game Sir.

Again, you are mistaken. I can show a half a dozen different runs that produce over 1500/ton profit rounds trip. I think your playing it wrong! ;)

Well I can't play it any better than physically visiting systems and comparing trade item demands and/or some basic research with Slopey's (as unreliable as it is). Perhaps I will get lucky like the two of you out of thousands having the same problem as me and find two stations with 1000cr/per item profit. So far...ain't happening. I just play Eurospacetruck sim and cart rares around for a guaranteed profit for now.

Oh and a dozen system out of 4 billion isn't really that high of a percentage. I could be 400ly from your dozen systems. Either way glad you are making some profits. Enjoy.

Yep, i noticed a jump in one system purchasing palladium, so much so that i decided to trade flat out until the prices change or i get bored. I make 179k one way, return journey 37k a total of 200k + in a round trip, max 2 jumps using Lakon Type-6 with 100 cargo space.

There are dozens of systems in my area that have very good trade routes. I am making 1700cr/ton one way and 1300cr/ton on the return. This isn't isolated to a few systems but at least a 100ly bubble. I haven't looked beyond that yet...

I was visiting relatives from the 23rd to this afternoon...

:D Hope you had fun - can you go do it again if is has this sort of effect on the market...

read the newsletter, torval won the war, pro slaver. CMDR's helped her battle in conflict zones and crushed the opposition cause alot of us are pro empire I guess.

On the Galnet news it says Torval just freed 10,000 imperial slaves. They are listed as a best seller in the system I`m in right now. The lower class less well mannered type are cheaper of course! ;):p
