Response?

So, from reading the forums i get that there is a big dispuite as to whether there is enough to do in the game, is it finished, etc. etc.
I also get that there are (rougly) 50% saying that games is good as it is and 50% saying it needs fixing. I am not going to bore you with my views on this. I am however interessted in knowing what the response from the development team is on this? Have there been any offical statements of any kind?

I believe the official response is that more is coming Soon(tm). Personally I like the game a lot right now and anything they add to the game without detracting from the game, is just icing on the cake. The main thing to remember is this game is one with no end game, there is no way to win. The goal is just to keep accumulating wealth how you want to, and enjoy the view while you do it.

The only response to anything at all in the last week has essentially been that anyone with the pay grade to make an official statement is on holiday and you shouldn't expect to hear anything until after the new year.

There was the Braben interview posted last week where he outlined the understanding that there was much work to be done and they were looking forward to continually adding content.

The game is exactly what the devs said it would be, except some things they said that would be added in future patches and DLCs. So there's not much else to add from their part, IMO.

Some people like their game and some people don't, just as it happens with every product in the market.

Honestly, new things are not icing on the cake.
New things - would be the cake.
What we have right now is an empty plate. A huge plate, where you can put an amazing cake. But this huge plate is empty. You can imagine a cake on this huge plate. Which most of "seasoned veterans" do. :)

This is true. Ive been pretty astounded by all of the people screaming that they were misled. I got exactly the game I was expecting when I bought it. Granted I did not put in my pre-order until the night of Dec 15th a few hours before the initial release because I don't buy a game until I can be reasonably sure that my research will tell me what Im going to be buying, and I certainly am not about to pay a developer to do their job as a beta tester for them. If you do the kickstarter thing and pay for a game months or years in advance then you are essentially gambling and have no more right to complain when you don't get what you want than a gambler does when he goes bust at the craps table.

If you buy a game based on a cinematic trailer you're a muppet. Anyone that spent 10 minutes of research in the last 2 months knew exactly what this game was going to be and if you did that and bought it anyhow hoping for something else, or you didn't do any research at all and are now unhappy with what you bought you have nobody to blame but yourself.
