Future development plans?

I'm looking for some information from Frontier about the future development plans for E:D. It's fun as is, but seems clearly incomplete, and obviously needs some more content(housing, player built structures, customization), etc. Will a list of planned features and/or ETAs be released?

The Design Discussion Archive is the best place to look for features and future plans.

Pointless going there, those forums havent seen anything interesting added to them in over a year and a half.

I also want to know what Frontiers future plans are for this game like probably most other people. We havent got what was promised for release so I think a lot of us are wondering what now?

I am getting a bit sick of the useless newsletter as well, they havent said anything interesting in over a month. I want to hear something concrete about when the ships are going to be introduced and which ones they are going to be, I want to know about missing features like external views, I want to know about multiplayer improvements, and the dynamic galaxy plans as well as whether we can expect new station designs, and when will we start seeing radical improvements made to the present bare bones mechanics of mining, trading, pirating, smuggling etc.

We all what to know these things. I dont expect an immediate answer from David but I think people are getting a bit worked up about the state of things as they stand and would like to hear some honest talk from Frontier at some point in the near future.

Semi-officially DDA are still considered their source material for new features.

More officially, Michael has stated that they won't post a roadmap for development. (I might be wrong about that, but I'm pretty sure)

All I care about is making Groups/Wings top priority, and then continue to make Missions, Trading, Piracy, Bounty Hunting, Exploring, and Minning deeper and more engaging. Anytime I hear someone talk about planetary landings I just want to tell them "Can we let them finish the game they started before we ask for expansions."

I'd just like to see future development confirmed, as this game does not seem feature complete, and the newsletter has no information

Fixed that for you.

For the record the DDF is finished. It's meant to be finished. It has already served it's purpose.

The answers to your questions are simple. There is no need for Frontier to take time out of their day to address this as anyone that has done the slightest bit of research or has any idea about Frontier's development process already knows the answers:

  • Ships will be introduced as and when they are ready and entirely at Frontier's leisure
  • External view is not a missing feature
  • Multiplayer is being improved
  • The dynamic galaxy is busy being dynamic
  • You will see new stations when they are ready and entirely at Frontier's leisure
  • You will start to see radical improvements to bare bones mechanics when they are ready and entirely at Frontier's leisure

Enjoy.

That's fine for early access, but this game has been released, but is not feature complete. We need to hear something from frontier

I just hope they don't let the noise on the forums drive them from their plan. I saw that happen on another game I liked.

"External view is not a missing feature" we go have this - in walk station.

For many of us old timers I think we are perfectly happy letting our imagination fill in a lot of the places where some of the new generation is demanding "content" - there are some parts of the game I would like polished and to work a bit better or have some features added for ease of basic use but I'm not going to second guess the folks who delivered what for many of us is a dream delivered.

I was exploring today and just forgot that time was passing and let the sound and sights wash over me as I was enjoying the game, didn't run across a single target at all, just explored and had a great time. Have fun with what is here, it will grow.
