they actually gave notice that the servers would be going down for maintenance at this time every day on the 24/12/2014, at 12:02 PM UTC so it could be said that they gave several days notice for today's downtime.

Today I felt like Balok, from The Corbomite Maneuver... just wandering the galaxy in my little ship... drinking, giggling and what not... So I decided to change my avatar to pay homage to the fugly little guy.
I was paying attention dear, you guys obvs got more messages than me!
Feedback for FD: i didn't get any clear message apart from the 1 minute to go.
About 2mins before that was some code at the bottom of the screen (near where the Beta version was, bottom left) but obviously it didn;t make any sense.
