Tradeing & Reputation gain... how does it work ?

Back in Beta, it was like this : You got rep with a station that you sell at a profit at. The higher the profit, the higher the rep gain. There's probably a component from buying at stations as well, but that seemed dwarfed by the rep gained from selling at a profit. I tested this specific mechanic.
.
I doubt very much that this mechanic has changed since beta :)

I just posted a question about rep gaining also as this is eluding me at the moment and I think I have been cancelling myself out in many of my transactions. It is a area that there are not too many tutorials for or youtube vids.

I gain rep just for selling stuff at the commodities market?

Yes, absolutely! Try to sell a full hull of rare commodities at the faction you want to be allies with, takes 2 x 80 tons and you are done. First time to get friendly, second to be allied.

That said, gaining rep seems to go slower now then a couple of days ago. I think they tweaked things a little here or there.

Yup :)

Surely you should get more rep gain from selling at a loss, since that way the station is making more money from you.
I'm just relaying the results of my testing in Beta. I traded between two stations only. No missions, no PvP / PvE. I hit friendly with the station I made the most profit at first, followed closely by the second station where I made the least profit. :)
