My bad day (but not as bad as I thought)

It all started with clipping a police ship with my laser while chasing a bounty.

I can't count the number of threads from people who've done that and I've answered "Be careful with your guns". Now I got caught the same way.

With a 200Cr bounty I tried to sneak into a station, but mistimed my high speed run and smashed my ship into fragments. Not only did I have to pay the insurance I lost a packet in unclaimed bounties and exploration data as well as failing a number of missions. when I got back to my home station I found that my Allied status with the controlling faction had been downgraded to Friendly. i've seen so many threads from people whose rep has been destroyed by a single incident like this so I was dreading the outcome.

However, after a couple of hours running missions for the faction I found my Allied status restored and hopefully my rep with the major faction (which is still Neutral) hasn't been set back too much. Has the rep system been balanced to prevent a severe setback in cases like this? I certainly finished the day feeling rather better than I thought I would.

did the cop go: "learn to aim you back-galaxy yokel?"

and you know, outposts are much safer to pay bounties. unless there was not one available :\ i think you should be able to go to a neighboring system of the same faction tho to pay it off if that's the case.

oh and since you now joined the club, have a T Shirt (i shot the sheriff but aimed for the deputy) :p

I know, I wasn't thinking straight. I had a list of missions chained together, but I had plenty of time to jump to a system where I wasn't wanted, pay off the bounty and then come back. Bad case of idiocy!
