John Williams to do the music?

Based on the myriad of suggestions it sounds like they should have a user-definable (i.e. pick your own music), reactive (to in game events such as entering combat, new system, etc), in-game music player option to me! 
I'll stick with whatever they give us for a few days and then turn it all off most likely... unless the music itself is procedural and non-repeating.

Another person I'd like to see involved is Ben Prunty, who did the really excellent soundtrack for FTL: http://benprunty.bandcamp.com/album/ftl He manages to capture soft exploration and intense combat so very well in the game, without ever being too overbearing for gameplay.
Though I'm a big fan of John Williams, I'm not sure that a classical guitar soundtrack would be the best fit for the game. Or did you mean that other guy, who did a couple of movie scores?

If they don't remake the original frontier theme I will riot
I agree Allen's music is very atmospheric it should feel big but lonely and some of Allen's music captures this perfectly. I will listen to all the music then as time goes by probably hear it less and less but I think the two that have to be in is the blue danube and the frontier theme everything else may or may not become a future elite classic sound

Very nearly finished my rearrangement of the old Frontier theme.
Obviously it's nowhere near the same masterful quality, but it's got a vaguely Williamsy flavour!

As others have stated, Williams would be prohibitively expensive. At 81, he's also all but retired and unless you're Spielberg of Lucas(film) I'd imagine he's highly unlikely to work for you!
I still want Ross & Reznor to do the soundtrack. Though I think you could maybe use VNV Nation tracks from FuturePerfect, Automatic or Faith, Power and Glory albums.

He composed the BAFTA nominated soundtrack for I-War 2 (One of my favorite Games) and according to Wikipedia was involved in the Outsider....

I was certainly pleased to hear he's officially on board for Star Wars VII
I think they would have to make a decision between building the actual game or using all the Kickstarter funds to hire John Williams.....
Or make a new Kickstarter specially for music
