No bounties on ship destruction?

Really? All those bounties I collected are somehow tied to my ship and I cannot claim them on ship destruction? Doesn't that seem a little ridiculous?

True, it'd be more realistic to have to create a new commander on death

But then very few people would ever play the game. I'm all for perma-death as long as I am able to be fully control my game the same way I am able to go through life. But then, it is a game with limited controls and therefore we need multiple "lives". Besides, we have escape pods.

Yeah, it is ridiculous. But just wait for the people telling you that the game is called Elite: Dangerous, and therefore, anything that makes the game either more difficult, more frustrating, or both, is warranted. While they fly from A to B without requiring shields or weapons, making more credits than you.

I make most of my credits bounty hunting for now.

Other times it's exploration, or trade.... depends what I feel like.

Here the problem. If everyone went to kill until they dead. The insurance pays for the ship cost. Then turn in the bountys. Which make the game too easy. At least right now you have to think before you take your combat too far. If you have 200k in bounties. Do risk losing it all to get another 20k bounty or use common sense and turn the bounties in?

If that would make the game too easy, what's your stance on trading?

Always cash in on your bounties before it gets to high, I learned my lesson when I lost over a millions worth.

They will be bringing iron man mode soon which is perma death especially for the hardcore.

Nah, I didn't take combat too far. I had to help my wife find something for 3 minutes, so I pointed my ship away from the nav point, accelerated from any ship around, and came back to no thrusters because it is all the damn NPC ships seem to aim at. Yeah, never go AFK. Guess what? RL takes priority. I just don't have the free time that many here seem to have in opulence, so an insurance setback along with lost bounties from 40 minutes of flying really gets under my skin and makes this game even more tedious than it already is.

Traders risk their whole cargo every time they undock. They fly ships that really can't evade interdictions, and at the higher end, have weak shields, obscene hull repair costs and enout cargo space that losing a ship might cost them 7-8 million in cargo, plus the rebuy cost of the ship.

Well if you find a good trade run run with it. Because it will not always be there.

But when we see stories like. I payed for a Lakon 9 worth 76,000,000 credits. Plus Cargo worth 14,000,000 Credits. I had no credits to my name and Mess up and died. Then complaining that they died. Because they lost 90,000,000 credits because of a stupid act not covering their Rear with extra money. Then they cry about it.

Yes trading is easy if you use common sense. It also Risk and reward. If you are smart. Instead of buying a ship outright not worrying about insurance. I always pay 4x the amount for a ship. So a Lakon 6 I save 4 million credits. Note it only 1,000,000 credit for a Lakon + 1,000,000 credits for upgrades. 2,000,000 for insurance and cargo. Always have a back up ship. For me it a Cobra made for smuggling and Exploration.

I can't wait the carebear mode is lacking :p
