was on this thread on star trek online and someone posted this "Assuming FD stays on track, this game will be a lot more fun to play a year or so down the road, when some of the more exciting talked about features makes it into the game. Controlling capital ships, landing on highly detailed planets, getting out of your ship and walking around stations, ports, even larger ships, ground combat, etc.

That's the game I want to play." is all this really going to happen?

If I could tell you what was going to happen a year from now Id be living some place much warmer than I am.

well, these features have already been announced some time ago that they would be coming in future expansions, ED as it is now is just the base game

You need faith and a degree of optimism, but based on the progress seen so far I would say that yes, this will happen. It is proposed that for new players these extra features will be sold as additional content to the core game. For early backers of the game it is proposed that these expansion packs will be free. How awesome is that? :)

well reason i ask is because day or two after the game came out i made a thread about capital ships and all i got was nope but i will be very happy if one day i can fly one but rest of all that is meh after sto trying to do it all from ground combat to space made the game a very dull game and dont want to see ED turn in to that game

I think a small crew of NPCs was proposed, not sure what constitutes a "capital ship" as such but there is certainly going to be a limit on the power any individual player can exert on the game. This is deliberate and intended to keep the first person experience throughout the game.

Not sure I have seen anything on controlling capital ships.
The game is predominantly about you being a pilot, though obviously through EVA and possible ground combat of sorts that does expand, so who knows. But David Braben has always been a little cagey on controlling super large ships like the capital ships in game now.

I think we might see a few ships requiring larger crew than we have now, but I personally doubt we will be on the bridge of one of the Capital ships anytime soon if ever, not that I am in any shape or form "in the know" on these things.

The rest though was part of the vision DB laid out in his vision and is the reason I backed this game, so here's hoping!

Last time I looked, bonfires were part of Elite dangerous. Can we drop this little side discussion and get back on topic please.
