Switched from a 7870 to a 970. Now elite doesn't show the dk2 in the display settings

I recently picked up a 970 with hopes that it would help reduce some lag/judder that I had before with my 7870. Only issue is, when I boot up elite with the rift set as primary and in extended mode, the game recognizes the rift as simply a monitor and doesn't have headtracking or stereoscopic picture. I remember that I used to have an option to select "oculus rift with headphones/speakers" before I switched out video cards but now this option is no longer available. Instead, it just shows the rift as primary monitor and my secondary monitor. I am currently running 344.75 and 0.4.4 runtime as well. Reinstalled elite, the runtime, and several versions of the nvidia drivers including 344.11, 344.60, and even 347.09 to no solution. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem is? The rift definitely isn't the problem as it works with my other test demos.

Are you able to view the demo scene in extended mode? You might want to have a little read through this thread to see if there's anything else that might help:

And perhaps trying searching the oculus forums for something like "no device detected in extended"

I am able to view the demo scene with the rift set to extended mode. I've been looking through that thread for a while. His issue was with the teamviewer driver if I recall correctly which doesn't seem to be my issue since the author for the dk2 is microsoft. I tried to run elite in direct mode to see if that would work and it will just display normally on only my monitor. The rift screen is completely black but the camera is on. No headtracking.
