Remove gimbaled weapons please!

I'm really enjoying ED so far but since I upgraded my Cobra to gimbaled weapons I no longer feel like I made a kill, I feel like my ship did. The combat is far to easy and unrewarding with them. In most games people need to install aimbots to achieve this level of simplicity! Get behind ship, hold down button, repeat, profit. I have yet to find the best weapons that I want that are fixed and I have spent a fair amount of time searching. Do I need to use poor weapons as well as having to aim myself if I want to play the game in a way I find rewarding? If someone can tall me where ot buy fixed beam lasers for example that would be helpful

I would like this to be a skill game that takes time to master (And I do really like the changing of pipes ect) not just a dumbed down unrewarding grind. Great so far but I feel adding hacks into the game as default to be a very poor design choice

Im not hating on an otherwise fun game. I just want it to feel rewarding

they have a weakness chaff, when something pops chaff the gimalled weaps go crazy they aren't 100% amazing and have a weakness over forward firing or fixed beams.

I use 4x gimballed beams on my cobra and, i prefer them i don't want to have to be looking directly at the target to be able to hit it, and turrets please, those things hit the security every chance they get.

I felt the same when I first saw them. They did get nerfed, but they could be boosted again. My class 1 beams seem well OP.

They do have a disadvantage though,. they are weaker than fixed and struggle at certain ranges and against low heat pilots.

Gimbals are useless when chaff spamming.
Gimbals perform poorly at long ranges.
Gimbals do less damage at range.

They are EZ mode weapons at close range though.

Simple answer: YOU remove them from YOUR ship :)

Someone posted a thread about the Shield Cells, and how they decided to remove them as they thought it made it too easy for them. You can do the same.

EDIT : "If someone can tall me where ot buy fixed beam lasers for example that would be helpful" all the better tech is to be found at high tech, rich and large population worlds. Hope that helps.
FWIW, why not limit yourself to a less capable ship? Maybe just stick with the stock sidewinder as a real challenge?

Well, gimballed weapons are weaker than fixed ones, though I admit they could/should be weaker, but to remove them? thats bit of extreme. It really depends on AI and what ship/setup that AI gets from the gods of RNG. There's no way that even Deadly enemies with just Eagle fitted bith c-b rank configuration can stand a chance against my a-rank pimped viper with g-multicannons.

Maybe you should go PVP pirate ;) see if those gimballs save you then MWAAHAHA...

So let me see if I get this straight... you don't like gimballed weapons because you think they are unrewarding and too easy, even though they have drawbacks when compared to fixed weapons - i.e. less powerful, susceptible to chaff and not effective against low heat targets etc - and would like to see them removed from the game even though you could, in fact, just not use them yourself??

Gimbelled lasers are not great at locking on and take a bit of skill as they are. You'd be a dumb pilot to be a sitting target for any attack.

Nothing wrong with EZ mode at close range when fixed still do potentially more damage. Plus there is CHAFF which can totally negate them with the push of a button. They are also nice to have for those ships that would be even more helpless against more agile ships. Larger ships must have weapons like these to be relevant.

Oh. my. God.

I can pretty much guess the sort of games you people come from. I really can. If you don't like it don't frackin' use it. They are balanced a certain way for a reason. This is a futuristic SPACE SIM.

and turrets please, those things hit the security every chance they get.

You need to change their firing rules. The default is engage at will. Set the to my target only. You can also turn off the turret functionality so they operate like fixed weapons.

If you don't like them remove them and put more powerful fixed weps on.
Fix is in your hands.
Leave them in game for those who want to use them.

Oh boy...
Ok, how about: "please remove support for HOTAS joysticks, I feel players using them have an unfair advantage against me playing with a gamepad. Flying should be hard and fiddly." =)

I don't use Yaw at all. Don't have swivel stick or pedals.
I haven't tried fixed weapons since early Beta, when I could not line up on a target if my life depended on it... which it did.
So I have all gimballed.

I don't like the noise Cannons make so can you remove those please, and rail guns do too much damage.. So lets be rid of those too.

Drop some chaff and you hit nothing. If you don`t like to use gimballed weapons, go to fixed then. Skill and cleverness is needed to pilot and equip ya ship in a right way. I don`t see a problem here.

I removed the gimballed weapons on my Viper and replaced them with 4 fixed lasers, they do have their advantages you know. This after coming across 2 NPCs in a row that spammed a lot (A LOT) of chaff. I couldnt hit them... Also I am learning to fly more effectively with flight assist off, which is a bit of a challenge but I believe will make me a better pilot. Its crazy hard to start with... Fixed obliges you to learn better flying and targetting, though I think all fixed is better on a Viper because the weapons are grouped closer than a Cobra.

On my Lakon 6 I have MISSILES, which admittedly dont really require much skill, other than keeping your enemy in the crosshairs for a bit, but it is SO satisfying :)

Some people will be offended if you title your posts that way. Not me. I am just enjoying making the game fun and challenging in my own way.

Fly safe.

And if you cant fly safe, die with panache...
