What is there to be gained from assaulting the federation authority vessels?

As I am racking up the bounty on my head within the federation space I am getting interdicted quite often which is good. Some of the interdictions are even inescapable - screen starts to flicker resulting in rapidly losing pips in blue bar (dunno if this is a bug or intended but it's welcomed nonetheless). There is still of course no sense of danger since I can escape in my cobra anytime I wish degrading the interdictions to mere annoyance. But what if I want to fight them?

My current obervations are that even if I have hunting mission in that sector active, killed fed authority vessels don't count. They carry no cargo and have no bounty on them. So shooting them down is basically pointless and waste of time? Or can I make a pact somewhere with someone which would make killing them profitable? Is there currently any incentive to fight them at all other than slowly raising the wanted bounty?

In my case, I go to empire stations and attack waves of empire authority ships. I do it for two reasons

1.) To test my skills and loadout and how much I've improved
2.) To rack up a large bounty in hopes players will attempt to hunt me down.

The last time I hunted System Authority was in Beta 3 - after some time they sent you two Anacondas and sometimes some smaller convoying ships. Does this still happen? I just thought: If I am able to destroy them, nothing will ever stop me. A single player ship alone may be more skilled in maneuvering than them, but their combined firepower outmatches every solo player so either I kill him or retreat ;)

I don't know of any way specifically, but I think its a great idea. If war were to break out between the major factions I can see it as a guerrilla warfare tactic that should be rewarded. Also, the anarchy system's outpost where I often visit says something like "rise up never surrender" on it, I could see them offering a reward as well. Hopefully they will add rewards for people who want to be a bad guy soon.

Also can't blame you for going after the Federation. Those corrupt empty husks of men deserve all they get.

You're a sick, sick man. The Empire is the only true light in the universe.

Those men and women you murdered had families.

Disgusting.

I does seem like something is up, you should be able to take a "kill Fed Authorities" mission and get some faction reward even if it's from a drug smuggling outpost in the next system.

I was on a "kill 4 pirates" mission in the correct system for the goal, got interdicted and told to drop my cargo. After I killed him it had not counted to my mission target either so maybe there's a mission bug somewhere.

To the OP; As others have mentioned you can find missions, generally from pirate factions, to destroy authority ships.

Other than that, I have no idea if it makes any difference.

According to the DDAs the destruction of Security Vessels should lower the security rating of a system and in one stage of Beta the security rating of a system was listed on the info tab in the galaxy map.

Unfortunately, the security rating then dissappeared in a later update and don't ever remember seeing anything on the patch notes as to whether they just hid this from view or it was removed because it wasn't working.

If you aren't asking for rewards for "shooting up police cars", what exactly are you asking for here?

I don't know about the OPs reason for "shooting up police cars", but during the Jera conflict I destroyed about 100 of them, and got quite a bounty for doing so, in the hopes that this destruction would in some way affect the war there.

My way of thinking is that wholesale destruction of the security forces should lower the security rating and possibly the influence of the faction to which they belong, but there is no way of telling if this does make any difference what so ever.

The Devs seem quite tight-lipped on the background sim but it would be nice to know if our actions, outside the missions that give you a debrief with the little blue arrows, make any difference at all.

To Sovereign; Where did they send this small fleet after you? Was it at a Nav beacon or did you find it in a USS? In SC in Jera, I keep getting interdicted by SAVs but it's still always a lone Eagle or Viper, which quickly gets destroyed. With over 600,000cr bounty it's about time they sent a Dropship or Conda after me, but always a Viper or Eagle.

To all those who are destroying the Feds' Security Vessels; Keep up the good work!
