Bored already

So i played in Beta 1.0 -> 1.03

I made many millions and owned, at one point, all the available ships in that beta. (Type-9 and Anaconda were what I really spent most of my time in).

I decided to not play until live to have the best experience when returning.

So the day came, I installed the game and played for a couple of days.

And to be honest, I feel like im already done.

Mining was new to me. I spent some time doing it and it felt largely a pointless endeavour. the only reason to do it was to make money and there are far better, faster ways to do that.
Trading was the same as the betas only harder to find decent trades yourself as the ability to use trading tools has disappeared. No idea why..
Doing missions was new to me too. It offered a way to make a relatively easy income initially but pretty quickly became largely pointless for traders. If that was all bounty hunters had to go on then it looked like a bread line existence.
Exploring was OK but again broadly unrewarding.

I play in a DK2 so I can't comfortably write things down when planning trades etc. It doesn't really suit it much at all. In my opinion the galaxy map trade routes should show the demand level in the speed of the pulses which indicate the direction of the trade. Especially if you paid for trade info. Otherwise you might end up trading something that's a loss leader as you have no way of knowing without visiting both ends of a trade first. You don't know if there is a high demand until you get there, so it's a bit backwards.

So after 3 or 4 days of a couple of hours a day I feel like I'm more or less done with Elite already.

Really disappointed. I was so looking forward to there being so much more than the betas. In reality its just bigger and slower to do the same things I've already done with a couple of unrewarding extra facts bolted on.

I bought the lifetime pass to all expansions when I entered Beta so I'll look in from time to time but I really hope some improvements are made otherwise it's just wasted money. A real pity.

Hope some devs read this and have a think about it.

Maybe it just needs alot more time than I have to put in to it to make the most of it.

This is precisely why I do not pay developers to do their testing for them, regardless of how impatient I am to play the game.

I've made an exception this time just because we all wanted Elite 4 for so many years. I wish I haven't :)

This one tested my resolve more than any other. I can't tell you how many times I was <--> this close to buying the Premium Beta. Very happy now I stood by my guns.

Go away, play something else for a bit referesh your batteries then come back. Sounds like the OP is in Elite Burnout. Nothing wrong with backing away, taking stock then coming back at a later date. :)

take cover, the army is coming telling you ´you lack imagination´, or ´you didn´t get what the game is about´

Why the negativity, what you said might very well be true. Whatever the game is about, some finds it a great and enjoying experience, others dont. Whats the problem?

Same here, just started, gone to extraction site, and... turned game off :( I am pretty sad, but I it is not fun anymore :(

Uninstalling now, making place for Alien Isolation as I wasnt able to play it before.

You pick one:

- You're just waiting to be spoonfed
- You lack imagination
- This game is not for you
- The game is still alpha/beta/gamma/release candidate/development will continue

I havent played for I dont know how long either. I'm hoping that future expansions in 2015 will add to the game.

Doesn't that really depend how long you play it now? I do wonder how many players it will have in 6 months time.

I do hope they add some good content soon.

I must be easy to please. To me, this game is simply excellent. I backed it from the kick off and it's exceeded my expectations over and over again.

It must be so disappointing for you that it doesn't deliver what you hoped for. I mean that quite sincerely.

I wouldn't buy the beta, it is a silly thing to do unless you somehow enjoy testing buggy software, but I did pledge on beta level when this game wasn't a certainty yet. The way it turned out I kinda regred pledging back then.

You lack imagination - this is the worst argument ever. By this logic we all can just turn our monitors off and imagine the best game of our lives.
On serious note, try playing something else and just come back to Elite later. Just take a break.

I do hope they continue to add content and develop the game as well, of course. As to it depending on how long I play, honestly Ive already put enough hours into it over the holiday that it has exceeded my budget of what Im willing to spend per hour of entertainment to more than justify the purchase, so at this point anything more I get out of it will be gravy. If they continue to add value, I will continue to put my quarters into the slot and buy more content. If they dont, I won't. It really is that simple.

Exactly the reason I didnt start playing till well into the Standard Beta and left the game after playing that for quite a bit so I wouldnt get burned out. If you play the game over and over you will get burned out after a while because the stuff that's in it is pretty basic atm and not very different from the Alpha/Beta. I probably wont really truly love this game until the planet landing expansion comes out I think, I always had my doubts as to how long lasting flying from one station to another was going to be.

But atm it is still interesting for me, I havent tried anything else other than exploring, fighting and trading so I have a lot to experience yet, nor have I tried many of the ships yet. I am trusting that the game will develop over the next few months into something very exciting. I think when you look back at this version it will be seen as bare bones compared to the game we will be playing in a years time. But the fact its growing and changing means there will never be a time when its truly complete. I guess you just have to accept that and play with what you've got..

Well if he is in 'Elite Burnout' after just a few hours of play, then it surely suggests a problem......

Well if he owned every possible ship to own in beta, then chances are hes played more than just a few hours eh.
